If you reside in Detroit, as I do, your radio and TV broadcast airwaves are dominated by live coverage of Rosa Parks' funeral. All other programming is pre-empted -- so we can be lectured by racists and race merchants.
Right now, I'm listening to Louis X a/k/a Louis Farrakhan. Why is this racist loon a prominent speaker at this woman's funeral? If he had it his way, Catholics and other Christians, Jews, Whites, Asians, Gays, Arabs, and anyone not Black Muslim would not be riding in the back of the bus: they'd be dead.
Is Rosa Parks' funeral the place for Racist-in-Chief Louis X to spout off against "The Military-Industrial Complex," and to tell Christians that their "Church must not dirty the garment." Huh? The dirtiest thing in that room is the Black Muslim "leader" speaking those words -- followed by the gushing applause and cheers of all mindless boobs filling the audience. Christians don't need to be lectured by Louis X about dirtying anything. Sickening.
Today, all of us who don't fit Farrakhan's sick, narrow mold are sitting in the back of the bus.
Then there's Jesse "Hymietown" Jackson and Weird Al "Mass Murder at Freddie's Fashion Mart" Sharpton. Thankfully, I missed their speeches. I'm sure they were par for the course.
But I just loved the scene toward the opening of the funeral ceremony, during which Jesse Jackson had a Bill-Clinton-at-Ron-Brown's-funeral moment. (Speaking of Slick Willie, he was there, too.) The cameras focused on Jesse Jackson and the man next to him was either asleep or reading something. Jesse Jackson appeared on the screen nudging the guy awake, elbowing him several times. Because that's what this is all about. It's not a funeral. It's a propaganda fest and media event combo meal.
Some guy in a collar is now talking about cheese, tomato, mayonnaise, and mustard sandwiches in his Parks "eulogy." Gee, and I thought it was a funeral. Instead, it's the Rosa Parks Culinary Institute.
Or, counting Farrakhan, Sharpton, and Jackson -- and the rest of the audience cheering them -- it's the Museum of Racists & Fools.
Shame on Rosa Parks' relatives for inviting these sickos and giving them this forum.
Did you notice that when the coffin was carried out of the Capital all pallbearers were black except one white token that carried the "back" of the coffin. There were no Asians, Indians, Hispanics.....just blacks and one token white.
One would have certainly thought that the semblance of the civil rights struggle would have been shared and shown by all races, not just black.
And how about that shameless Reverend Al impression by the most excellent Governor Jennifer "Really a White Lady" Granholm? I thought I would puke. Oh Jennifer...while you're there in Detroit why don't you get yourself a rat to gnaw those warts off your face. Call it urban renewal.
"The worst speaker was Kerry. What the hell does he have to do with Rosa Parks? He looked like big white dope trying horn in on the whole affair."
Exactly...what the hell was rich, white, northern boy doing there??

Funeral? Nah, those are political rallies. Look what they turned the New Orleans tragedy and deaths into. Look what they turned the 2000 military losses into. They are ghouls.
......... hopefully their own.

Callahan:
ROFLMAO - a "big white dope"...Thanks, that made my day!!!
Did you see the pimped-out hearses at the funeral?
I saw one blurb about her lying in State at the Capitol and thats all I really saw of the whole thing. In the real world pallbearers are usually family or close friends, perhaps he was one of these. I have no idea of the selection process, so I have no comment on it.
bttt
They went overboard with their anti-conservatism, anti-Bush/Iraq attack, and christian bashing. What a shame.
But you are also right about the marketing "package".
Not to change the subject, but it does bring the Harriet Miers event to mind:
Dems demanded a "female" package. President Bush offered them one. Repubs argued that one with Constitutional Law and Merit would be a far better choice for the position. Dems went hysterical. And I praise Laura Bush. lol.
But... hold on. For this to have worked as a "scam", the white man ordering Rosa Parks to "move", was either a well-researched/studied character, or, in fact, a part of the "scam" himself. What do you think about this?
See, in that scene, the camera FOCUSED on the Judge's tie.. BOLD RED WHITE AND BLUE.. and then the "anti-war" personalisms, and then his "constitutional law" gaveling.
Frankly, I found it to be a cheap "visual/script" trick. Oh well...
I didn't say it was a scam. You did.
I called Rosa Parks a myth and she was.
