MEXICO CITY (AP) -- Nearly every time President Bush travels south of the border, he promotes the idea of allowing more foreigners to work legally in the United States.

But Bush is likely to skirt the issue when he heads to Argentina this week to attend the Summit of the Americas, largely because the proposal has stalled in Congress -- where many Republicans argue that securing U.S. borders should take priority.

He should be telling the Latinos to stop promoting immigration to the U.S., and that we will seal our borders and forcibly return those who have come here illegally. Granted, silence is better than his old posture of waving them in, but it still doesn't cut it. Bush has been and remains a disaster on immigration and border control.

This should be a states issue more than a federal issue. Let the state's decide how they want to enforce it, with the feds providing assistance. The same way disaster relief works, because that is what this is becoming.

"Bush has been and remains a disaster on immigration and border control."

Absolutely.

The only way this will stop is by pressuring the Congresscritters up for election.

It is much worse than that. When you combine the effect of NAFTA and CAFTA on our soverignty, it is now quite ugly. He has failed us big time, in favor of the Bush dynasty agenda for the WTO / One America agenda.

Like father like son - the Bushs are all elitists. War on Iraq to save the homeland yeah right - while you let them walk in the back door. I wouldnt give a dime to the GOP and they shouldnt expect my vote anymore.

This should be a states issue more than a federal issue.

We already settled that with the War of Northern Aggression, and scrapped the Articles of Confederation. However; if you insist, Texas will require that every person crossing ANY Texas border have a Passport and apply for the appropriate visa (work, education, tourist). Oklahoma is gonna be P!ssed when we renegotiate treaties with Kansas and bypass their state economy. Think about this very carefully, because if the Fedgov can create another department and fund it with YOUR money; they will.

And the State of Texas does not have any immigration laws on the books regarding Mexico, or any other foreign country. All of those are federallaws.

An Clintoon was much better? Remember the 1000s of "new" voters in 1996?

Don't forget to print and send those "peso notes" Prime Choice made (heh heh). I hear they're really getting some attention in the Beltway.
