Massachusetts Attorney General Tom Reilly today threatened Governor Mitt Romney with “going around him” to give free in state college tuition to the children of “undocumented guest workers” (illegal aliens).
This is the latest development in an ongoing political battle between the two politicians. Reilly has been a staunch defender of spending tax payers’ money to give free educations to illegal aliens and their children as the “compassionate” (politically correct) thing to do. Romney has promised to veto any legislation from the State House that would provide illegals with free college tuition. In response, Reilly has announced that he has gathered enough Democratic legislators to override a governor’s veto. Failing that, he is reported to have told aids that he will invoke “consumer protection law” to provide free tuition to illegal aliens and their children. Reilly is a pioneer in using “consumer protection” as a way to make his own law. He invoked this reason to ban the sale of new handguns in Massachusetts when, in 1999, the Legislature failed to ban them through law.
State citizens who are having difficulty raising the money to send their own kids to college are understandably angry at Reilly. However, the Boston area Liberals who control the state vote are supporting him.

I wish we could just hang this insanity on the Left but unfortunately the main proponent of this offal at the Federal level is Senator Orrin Hatch.

He lives with his wife in a tiny apartment in Watertown. Howie said that he's never owned a piece of property in his life.

Mitt Romney is on Hannity and Colmes about this. He has a clear, rational viewpoint on this issue. It's about following the law.

Actually he doesn't live in Watertown anymore. His place burned a couple of years ago. He moved to West Roxbury. Howie isn't up to date.

Listening to the commentary on the radio talk shows, I think Reilly picked an issue even the liberals won't side with. Big miscalculation!
