"the missions of more than 40 ambassadors and heads of Iranian diplomatic missions abroad will expire by the end of the year," which is March 20 under the Iranian calendar."
EXPIRE AND HEADS being the operative words...(rolling eyes)
This is beginning to sound a little like Japan back around 1939.
Looks like an eventful Naw-Ruz coming up.
Trouble on the way...
A country that is developing nuclear weapons and that has stated that another country should be "wiped off the map" is, to the AP, merely taking a more "confrontational approach". Wars have been started, and might be again, for far less than this.
I believe they have already recalled some, ordering them home to Iran.
A lot has been written about all the changes in personnel with the new president, but replacements in the Iranian gov't shouldn't surprise anyone, since appointed positions change with a new president, just as ours do. Unfortunately, in this instance, they're being replaced by more hardline radical personnel.
From The Times:
Now, however, many of the countrys most qualified diplomatic negotiators will be out of work. They include Mohammad Reza al-Borzi, Irans envoy to the UN in Geneva, who has been a key intermediary with Britain, France and Germany over the nuclear issue.
This is an enormous mistake. The regime has shot itself in the foot, said Dr Ali Ansari, an Iranian expert at St Andrews University. It is typical of the insularity of the regime that it creates this crisis and gets rid of its best diplomats just at a time when things could not be worse on the world stage.
Wonder how many of the 40 elect NOT to return..
Psst, If your name is on the list, I wouldn't go back home. They have a stone with your name on it. Religion of peace, you know.

Iranian Unveils Worlds Fastest Transistor
TEHRAN, Nov. 1--An Iranian college professor at Khajeh Nassireddin Tousi Industrial University has created the worlds fastest operating transistor, an invention poised to bring about unprecedented developments in the way advanced electronic equipment function.
Dr. Farshid Raisis research paper submitted to the prestigious US-based magazine Applied Physics Letters has attracted enthusiastic response from scientific centers and received wide coverage in reputable international physics publications.
In an interview with ISNA on Tuesday, Raisi said the vortices, set in motion in the form of solitons (pulses that do not lose energy or their shape as they travel), which he has used in the transistor, travel at the speed of light and are much faster than the electrons in ordinary transistors, leading to quicker switching speeds.
Raisi has observed switching speeds of 8 GHz, as fast or faster than the best existing transistors and expects no insurmountable problems in shrinking and mass producing his soliton device. He aims to achieve speeds of 200 GHz, which would make this transistor attractive for use in supercomputers.
Raisi said the parts required for building the silicon transistors are not available domestically.
With a PhD and MS from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Raisi is assistant professor at Electronics Engineering Department in the universitys Electrical Faculty.
