I'm sure Vicente Fox would be happy to send NOLA as many workers as needed.

"Evacuees "have been living rent-free and eating free food through subsidies from FEMA and the Red Cross,"

Notice the quote starts after the copywriter inserted the word 'evacuees'. I'll bet there was a more descriptive word there originaly...something along the lines of 'deadbeats' or 'bums' perhaps.

When the state/city leadership doesnt foster an environment of a future for NO people (especially the young) will leave.

I personally know people that left LA for a better future without having to deal with the rebuild.

There are help wanted signs everywhere in Baton Rouge. My employer is having a terrible time getting the lower paid employees to show up.

My guess is that many got the FEMA and Red Cross assistance checks and are taking a short vacation.

The employers in N.O. could put to test the law of supply and demand.

If they would raise the pay, employees may appear to fill the jobs.

My guess is they will keep the wages low, so as to use for an excuse for employing illegal brown workers from across the border.

Might wanna tell NO Mayor Nagin and the Gov to check the some crack houses in seedy parts of Kansas City. Message: "Your Refugees and Workers are scattered across the US, primarily in welfare lines and crack houses.".......the Great OZ has spoken

They need workers, not bums. Anybody with any self-respect would jump at the opportunities, but the welfare-careerists that are still living in shelters don't want to work. They just expect to be taken care of.

"primarily in welfare lines and crack houses."

Well, Yeah. I agree with the word "primarily."

A few, though, are already in jail on murder charges here in Houston.

Also, the crime rate in Houston for violent crimes is up 20%. Geez! I wonder why.

Is it ok to quote and link directly to Yahoo when Yahoo has the USA Today article?

I also tried to do an excerpt to be helpful with any USA Today issues.

My daughter's boyfriend and three of his friends went down to do construction work. Free hotel, free food and not bad wages. I heard they were paying carpenters $22 an hour. One guy saw a car down a bank and went to look at it and found a body inside. He went back home after that. And the reason to many Mexicans are working there is there just aren't enough people to work.

I was at a Chic-Fi-La restaurant in a local mall yesterday. The manager came up to my family after we were served and asked if we knew anyone who would be willing to work. He said he would pay $10 hr. + and would give $100 to anyone who recommends anyone he hires. He said he is desperate for workers and needs as many as 20 people. We live in Southwest Florida.

I agree with you. The people who had low paying jobs in NO are not going to wish to return after finding better pay elsewhere and the ones who were on the dole, drugs or both are going to stay on it no matter where they are.
