Our Republic is founded on the proposition that local government is the best government. Power in our nation doesn't trickle down from the top, it rises from the bottom. Our ultimate authority is not the Federal Government but the People.
We have inverted that chain of authority, and this case just a new expression of it.
Why bother having local elections at all, if the higher authorities can just over-rule them?

I guess you were paying attention to what the dirty hippie teacher was saying during civics?
I may not agree with what the people of Denver voted for. I can pretty much guarantee I would have been in the 46%. But THIS is what the system is designed for. And local governments AREN'T derived from the Federal Authority, they are derived from those powers not given to the Federal Authority BY THE CONSTITUTION. Read it why don't ya.....
