REGAL ROSES: Bearing flowers, Charles and Camilla visit Hanover Square, where they left a tribute to British 9/11 victims. Photo: AFP/Getty
Diana would be amused. Her successor and former rival, Camilla Parker Bowles, failed spectacularly in her attempt to wow Manhattan society with her sartorial splendor last night.
Dressed in an unflattering Anthony Price navy velvet frock with a fussy oversized chiffon collar, the Duchess of Cornwall arrived at a chi-chi cocktail party looking more like an escapee from the choirboy pew of Westminister Abbey than the guest of honor.
Earlier, Camilla caused quite a stir when she chose an eye-popping raspberry suit for her visit to Ground Zero.
We predict an "off-with-their-heads" ruling to come down on the core team who were supposed to create the "Camilla Chic" glamour on this trip..... and "a secret dresser," whose identity is fast becoming a gag in fashion circles.

The length of that dress is the worst thing about it......floor-length would have made the look balanced, more regal, and more attractive on Camilla.
As long as we are doing a critique - the dress itself is not that bad - her makedup is good - nice jewels - but what's with her shoulders puffing out in front like that and why do I care? :o)
Nice pic with the 9/11 cross as backdrop.
All that is missing is a broom and sky writing of "Surrender Dorothy".
Trying to turn Camilla into Diana is lipstick on a pig. And she's hardly a "girl", however blond she goes. They are both gross, and quite unappealing.
It is not that horrible. But those shoulders! My, how did she get them.
Poor Camilla, the comparisons to Diana must sting.
OMG, where did Yoko get that horrible hat?
Although the hat material---horsehair---is appropriate for Ono (snicker)
Now,that is bad,,,hideous dress.
Regardless of their morals, beliefs, and even stature, I don't consider it appropriate for a news publication to insult the appearance of a visitor to the US.
Move on. . .move on. . .folks. She is the Prince's wife. Can we show the couple a little respect?
. ..despite the fact that 'Charles' has gone over the top with his 'Green' concerns and his Islamic PC. . .
Right. Velvet is a hard thing to wear. And she, given the neckline, had to wear a strapless bra,,she must have been sooo miserable.
Diana is "frozen in time". No way Camilla, or anyone, can compete with that image. She shouldn't even try..

I don't think Camilla does try. And that is to her credit. Why should she try to be Diana? She should be her herself. Even Diana wasn't the "Diana" that the idol worshipers think she was.
I'm not really all that impressed with the royals...wasn't even when Diana was alive. And I'm not going to be the one to judge Charles and Camilla -- that's between them and their God. Thing is, the UK is our ally in the war on terror, and it would do well for the U.S. to make nice to the royals. Won't kill us to do so.
But, it appeals to all us clotheshorses!
Why do think God invented malls?
How old is Camilla? One has to wonder what she looked like at Diana's age. I also remember seeing Diana in some pretty ridiculous clothing as well.
Usually, Mountain Dew. :)
However, I have a GREAT Gevalia Kona coffee I am partial to.
If what I've heard about Camilla Parker Bowles is true, I doubt if she gives a damn about wowing Manhattan society. She's who she is.
Don't get me started with YOKO!!!
