Whether you want to hear it or not, Bush is weak. A lame duck president with many opposed to the war, suffering from controversy about the Plame affair, the rising energy crisis, as well as other issues.

But none of the above should influence or derail the confirmation.

Not very many lame duck presidents held working majorities in both houses of Congress.

2006 will be the determinant.

There is only the appearance of weakness thanks to MSM.
War opposition and ratings skewed by skewed polls; Iraq will be turning the corner after Dec. parliamentary elections; US economy grew by 3.8 % last quarter in spite of "energy crisis" (not a peep from MSM); fuel prices going down; Plame affair was a mole hill from a mountain; DeLay already seen as victim: Dims unraveling.

W's true transient weakness was due to Miers, and he corrected that; his ongoing vulnerabilities are spending and the border. By next summer W will be riding high.

bullschitt...total and complete bullschitt.

He has never been weak except letting democrats have ttheir way when Reps control all three branches of Govt. The Plame affair is a media driven frenzy that democrats concocted. What energy crisis? I think once again, liberals have underestimated his abilities. I hope to God he just takes the gloves off and pummels the hell out of these slimy liberals.
