Middle East: Al Jazeera Says Tape Is Old

Arab television channel Al Jazeera said Dec. 7 that a videotape claiming al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden is still "alive and fighting" was broadcast earlier in the day by mistake because it dates back to September. Al Jazeera Editor-in-Chief Ahmed Sheikh said his channel had aired "the important parts" of the videotape by al Qaeda deputy leader Ayman al-Zawahiri at that time.
