Chinese protesters shot - village sealed

Snip: BEIJING, China (AP) -- Hundreds of riot police have sealed off a southern Chinese village after fatally shooting as many as 10 demonstrators, villagers said Friday. It was the deadliest known use of force by security forces against Chinese civilians since the killings around Tiananmen Square in Beijing in 1989 and marked an escalation in the social protests that have convulsed the Chinese countryside.

Police were searching for the protest organizers, villagers said. Thousands of people gathered Tuesday in Dongzhou, in southern Guangdong province, to protest the amount of money offered by the government as compensation for land taken to construct a wind power plant.

Police fired into the crowd, killing as many as 10 people, mostly men, and wounding up to 20, villagers reached by telephone said Friday. They said many people are missing.

An Al Qaeda big fish threatens France

The Syrian Abu Musab Al-Siri, one of the main Al Qaeda operatives in Europe, was arrested on October 31 in Quetta, Pakistan. The man left a spiritual will in the form of a one-hour video recorded right after the attacks on London on July 7 and broadcasted on Islamist websites. The DST (French equivalent to the FBI) immediately translated the speech.

"It is our legitimate right to strike France because we are at war with this country. I call all the mujahidins of Syria, of Lebanon, of the Levant and beyond to strike (its) heart and its interests wherever they are." He also invites "the mujahidins (...) to act quickly and take actions against Great Britain, Italy, Holland, Denmark, Germany, Japan, Australia, Russia and France or counters their interests in the Moslem countries and everywhere else". Beyond, the terrorists must "take actions against all the countries which are present militarily in Iraq, Afghanistan and in the Arab peninsula". He also invites "all the sleeper cells to awake because the war has reached its climax and the enemy is about to waver". "One should not be deceived by the French trading positions with regard to the Palestinian cause and Iraq".

To attack France is "legitimate" since it started "to interfere with the businesses of Syria and Lebanon" and that it took part in the drafting of the UN resolution 1559 "which constitutes a prelude to the invasion of these two countries".

The text then evokes the nine "reasons which legitimate the action" against Paris: attempt to impose "an embargo on Syria with the UN’s help, America and Great Britain", will "to disarm all those which want to resist Israel", "strong support to the Jews for a long time" and supply of the atomic weapon "to the Zionist State ", putting Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad on the list of terrorist organizations, occupation of "certain Moslem countries in Africa", participation "in the genocide against the Moslems of Bosnia", sending troops in Afghanistan, membership of NATO and finally decision to prohibit "the wearing of the hijab for Moslem women in France".

Drug raid in Aspen stirs pot
Rocky Mountain News ^ | 12/8/05 | Ellen Miller

Posted on 12/09/2005 4:24:09 PM PST by elkfersupper

A dramatic drug bust at two Aspen restaurants busy with the après ski
crowd has created a rift between the two major law enforcement
agencies at one of Colorado's premier ski resort towns. Fifty-three
officers from a number of law enforcement agencies, some with guns
drawn, stormed into two Aspen restaurants during the busy after-ski
time last Friday.

The raids happened shortly after 4 p.m. and netted about 2 ounces of
cocaine, $3,000 in cash, nine arrests for drug involvement and 11 for
immigration law violations.

Pitkin County Sheriff Bob Braudis, an opponent of the "war on drugs"
who believes education and treatment are better answers to drug
abuse, didn't know about the raid until after the fact, even though his
jail was packed to overflowing.

"The sheriff should have been informed and the police chief has rightly
apologized,'' Aspen Mayor Helen Klanderud said Wednesday. "It's
extremely important that the agencies cooperate and have a positive
relationship.''

Late Wednesday afternoon, Braudis remained in a closed-door
meeting with Police Chief Loren Ryerson and City Manager Steve
Barwick. None returned phone calls for comment.

The city manager scheduled a special work session Jan. 17 for the City
Council to discuss the raid and the town's police policy regarding
drugs.

"Our paramount concern is the safety and well-being of visitors and
citizens of Aspen," Klanderud said. "Our police are not to do
undercover investigations or use paid informants. We need to get all
the facts of what happened here."

On the other hand, Klanderud said, the city policy requires police to
cooperate with other law enforcement agencies in drug investigations.

Ryerson told the Aspen Daily News that the sheriff's views on drug
enforcement played a factor in Ryerson's decision not to tell the sheriff
about the raids. But he repeated Tuesday that he made a mistake by
not informing Braudis in advance.

The newspaper also quoted Ryerson as saying guns were drawn by
some officers during the raid.

The raid was carried out by officers from the U.S. Drug Enforcement
Administration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Colorado
Department of Revenue and police from Aspen and Snowmass Village,
according to law enforcement news releases.

It was DEA agents who did the undercover work, Ryerson told the
Aspen Times.

Braudis has long called for the legalization of drugs, calling the war on
drugs a failure and saying addicts should see doctors, not go to
prison.

Councilman Torre, who goes by only one name, said it was good that
the sheriff and police chief "are trying to mend fences."

"But the city doesn't support undercover work, and our police
department doesn't," Torre said. "It's a matter of community trust and
public safety, and we believe in education and treatment as more
effective with drugs. It's not necessarily done with a bust, but to
intervene."

The controversy is the talk of the town, said Councilwoman Rachael
Richards.

"The city does not turn a blind eye to drug activity," she said. "And we
as a council certainly aren't told of these things in advance. But there
seemed to be a risk factor with these tactics and so many innocent
bystanders."

Hey WCG...

Hope you're doing good.

heard about this the other day and found this

Last Chance to Register for Highway Watch® Disaster Planning and Response Exercise:

Is your company prepared to respond in the event of a disaster? Do you know your company's part in the National Disaster Response Plan? The Highway Watch® program, in conjunction with Mississippi State University, will conduct an emergency response exercise on December 13-15 to explore the industry's emergency response plan, emergency decision making practices, and recovery operation needs that could result from terrorist actions and/or natural disasters. The exercise will simulate terrorist attacks on the trucking industry and will engage scores of decision makers from both the highway transportation sector, including executives and top managers from the industry, and Federal and State emergency and Homeland Security personnel to answer these critically important questions. The exercise will take place simultaneously at ATA's Headquarters in Alexandria, VA and MSU's Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems Extension in Canton MS from 2:30 PM (EST) on December 12 through Noon on December 14. Trucking company executives and operations management personnel, trade association executives, and government operations management personnel are encouraged to participate. Last minute registrations can still be made with MSU. A brochure and registration package are available from the Highway ISAC website at: http://www.highwayisac.org/Exercise2_package.pdf. For more information, contact Jack Legler at 703-838-1849 or jlegler@trucking.org.

I wish I could get to either place, it sounds like a good time...

Did your daughter get home from Chicago yet? That storm and the accident even affected flights in Europe. Mr. RR's flight from Riga was cancelled. The plane he was supposed to get on originated in Chicago, so it never made it to Latvia. I spent half the night on the computer trying to get him on a flight. Finally, I managed to get him on a Lufthansa flight to Denver. Of course he will miss his connecting flight to Rapid City. but I think he will finally get home about 11:30 tonight. (He's been gone for nearly two weeks, I need to go shave my legs.... LOL) My son's flight from Shanghai was not affected. He made it home this morning with no problems. Air travel is not fun.

What Copts fear
Al Ahram ^ | 12-9-05 | Gihan Shahine

Posted on 12/09/2005 10:31:43 AM PST by SJackson

Are the concerns of Copts following the gains the outlawed Muslim
Brotherhood made in the parliamentary elections justified? Gihan
Shahine finds some answers

That the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) has doubled the number of its
seats in parliament, forming the largest opposition bloc, concerns
apparently not just members of the ruling National Democratic Party
(NDP). Many Copts, not to mention secularists and liberals, have also
expressed fear that the group's rise to power will ultimately turn Egypt
into a conservative Islamic state where Copts will be treated as
second-class citizens and women would be discriminated against.

Only one out of 50 Coptic candidates who ran in the parliamentary
polls won a seat -- probably for no reason other than being a minister
-- increasing speculation that a growing sectarian environment is
sweeping the country where voters cast their ballots according to
religious rather than political affiliations. The speculation found
expression in a recent controversial US-based conference which called
for greater US pressure on Egypt, and restrictions on Washington's aid
to Cairo, in light of alleged persecution of the nation's Coptic Orthodox
Christians.

continued......

Top 5 End Times signs of 2005

City scent returns

Snip: The syrupy smell that enveloped lower Manhattan for several days in October is back - only this time it moved uptown. Perplexed pedestrians phoned the Fire Department and 311 yesterday afternoon when the sweet yet bewildering odor resurfaced in areas from the Flatiron District to the upper East and West Sides."It seems to be a repeat of what happened in October," said Ian Michaels, a spokesman for the Department of Environmental Protection, which is probing the scent.

Old fashioned remedies effective against superbugs

Snip: Researchers are finding that superbugs, which resist the strongest antibiotics in modern medicine's arsenal, sometime succumb to remedies from pre-antibiotic times. Antibiotic-resistant bacteria have become a major health problem in hospitals and institutions in Europe and North America. Almost impossible to kill, the bacteria cause surgical and neonatal infections in hospitals, spread readily among prisoners and can be found in rugs, air-conditioning ducts, on door handles, floors and TV remote controls. Appearing outside of the hospital environment, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (VRSA) can also be easily spread by casual contact via open cuts, brush burns and scrapes, and can quickly become difficult-to-treat and potentially deadly infections.

Yet old-fashioned methods for wound cleansing and dressing, ointments and cleaners offer promise as effective additions to standard treatment regimens.

Lettuce linked to Hepatitis A outbreak

Snip: Unwashed produce can transmit hepatitis A, e. coli and salmonella. “All produce - even those that come pre-packaged and labeled as having been washed - should be rinsed in cold running water,” Fielding said.

Hepatitis A is usually spread from person to person through a fecal-oral route. Thoroughly washing hands with soap and hot water after using the bathroom and before handling food can help prevent the spread of the disease.

UN mad over Dutch anti-Muslim cartoon

Snip: In the meantime, the UN has let the world press know that it cannot decide how to define "terrorism." In that case, its committee has postponed its meeting until February when they will meet once again to parse letters in the alphabet in an attempt to decide what is "terrorism." Yet now the UN Human Rights head seems to have a definition. It’s a Dutch cartoon. That’s terrorism.

All the while, Muslim fanatics chop off heads, set neighborhoods ablaze, blast bullets into innocent bodies and set up their 4000 web sites to teach hate and murder. Don’t forget also their schools where adult instructors tell the boys and girls how to despise "Jew-pigs," advocating pushing those in Israel into the Mediterranean Sea. And lest we forget, there are those Allah worshipers who are blowing up their own throughout New Iraq.

My garden is surrounded by a chain link fence. The silly deer still mangaged to get in. I found that planting marigolds between the rows slowed them down a bit. I think they don't like the smell of them. Plus, the flowers are pretty. Acting on a neighbor's tip, I also put shavings from Irish Spring soap around the plants. They don't like that either.

My freezer, like yours, is full of wonderful vegies. Fruit doesn't do very well here. Just bought half a buffalo today for the freezer. No cholesterol and we really like it.

Gunny Bob fans, he is on 850koa.com, is doing a good program, that I would call has America gone mad, it is the end of the first hour, but you can get it on the computer.

Bob also had a man whose name sounds to me like Harley Kushner (or Harley Cushner?), I had heard him last night on the Bohanon show and was impressed with what he had to say about his book,
"Holy War on the Home Front."

He says that Iran put out a plan in 1981 on how to infiltrate America.

He said that we are loosing the terror trials, due to the fact that muslims have infiltrated the courts, the military, the prisons and of course the mosques.

He seemed to think that France was still working, by ignoring the truth, also the fact that some 40 or 50 cars are still being burned each night.

Our news media has been taken over now by the enemies, so we will have to guess at the truth of reports from all over the world.

The China story did not surprise me, I think it happens more often than we know.

The threat in #4442 does strike me as the most likely, from all all the things going on, it appears to have already started.

I don't think that the President will be able to stop it, as we have too many secret cells in America and the ones that are not secret, are protected by the traitors of America.

All this was planned in the muslim manifesto 1990, also the 2005 and 2020 editions, they all say to rule the world.

The article that I posted last night on Russia saying no to the Hindu Temple, did you catch the russians statement, he said the Hindu Temple, would upset the muslims..........

In my head, I have bits and pieces, from the many articles that i have read, as you do.....all of them say that the war on terror is not won and is only now beginning.

What we did after 9-11, was only a warm up, a call to what was coming.

We know from our reading how to make most of the weapons that the terrorist needs to defeat us, as they do.

It remains in the back of my mind, that recently Dr. Bill has shortened the time frame of a nuclear attack here to two years, it was 5 years.

So terribly sad for that little boy and those who loved him.

Having landed at Midway a few times, I always held my breath because of that very short runway. Had a really bad scare there a few years ago. Upon landing, I saw fire trucks, with lights flashing, follow our plane all the way to the end. Turned out, one of the engines was in flames. We didn't know it until we departed the plane. I've had lots of scares on planes, but I keep on flying. I must be nuts.

I'm glad you have your baby girl home. I have four grandchildren flying here for Christmas. Three from California and one from Laramie, Wy. Hope it goes well for them.

Nuke over US could unleast electromagnetic tsunami

Snip: In an instant, an invisible radio frequency wave is produced — a wave of almost unimaginably immense intensity, approximately a million times as strong as the most powerful radio signals on the earth. The energy of this pulse would reach everything in line of sight of the detonation. And it would do so at the speed of light.

The higher the altitude of the weapon's detonation, the larger the affected area would be. At a height of three hundred miles, for example, the entire continental United States would be exposed, along with parts of Canada and Mexico.

Islamic suicide bomber on bike kills 6

Snip: NETROKONA, BANGLADESH -- A suicide bomber on a bicycle blew himself up on a crowded street Thursday, killing six others and wounding dozens. Authorities blamed the attack on extremists who want to create an Islamic state in Bangladesh. At least 45 people, including nine police officers, were wounded, many seriously, witnesses and police said. Among the wounded was a second bomber; police said he failed to detonate his explosives.

Hundreds of people had gathered on a street in the northern town of Netrokona after police detonated abomb found in a building, when the suicide blast sent shrapnel through the air. There was no claim of responsibility, but officials blamed the attack on Jumatul Mujahideen Bangladesh, a banned Islamic group believed to be behind a blasts that have killed 21 people in the past two weeks. Bangladesh is a largely Muslim country governed by secular laws. Judge throws out Quran litigation in North Carolina

Snip: GREENSBORO -- A judge on Thursday threw out a lawsuit spurred by outcry over the inability of Muslims to use a Quran for courtroom oaths, a lawyer in the case said. Superior Court Judge Donald L. Smith decided that the American Civil Liberties Union of North Carolina and Greensboro Muslim Syidah Mateen failed to show that an actual legal controversy exists between them and the state of North Carolina.

The judge did not address whether state law allows people to use non-Christian texts for oath-taking, the main issue the ACLU wanted resolved. "We're disappointed the judge did not reach the merits (of the case)," said ACLU lawyer Seth Cohen, who confirmed Thursday's ruling. "We're confidant we would have won on the merits."

Personal Note: ACLU loses case - boo hoo hoo (thankful for judge upholding existing laws rather than appeasing those who want to modify our laws to fit their agenda).

Aspen, 2nd home to many extremely wealthy entertainers, sports heros and public figures. The shefiff in Aspen is obviously "protecting" his famous neighbors from the possibility of any "problems" that could cause them (and the city) bad publicity.

Snip: In November, the average asking price for a place in the Aspen area, where Kevin Costner, Martina Navratilova and Michael Dell have homes, was nearly $5 million. Topping the price list is a $27 million lot that includes a yet-to-be-built 18,000-square-foot home to be furnished with $1 million worth of antiques imported from Europe. Two homes are listed for $18 million apiece. One is set on 6.75 acres with frontage along the Roaring Fork River. The other has a trout pound and 2 1/2 acres.

Snip: The four-star Hotel Jerome in Aspen began offering a 10-night holiday vacation package that includes unlimited ski passes and private lessons, an on-call masseuses, a chauffeur and a Maybach car that sells for no less than $375,000 that guest gets to keep. The price tag: a mere $1 million.
