As a result of Lions, 20 suspected terrorists were detained by Iraqi Army Soldiers and 2-BCT Soldiers.

"Canada moves to extradite fugitive - Ex-Black Panther held in ’69 police shooting"
Chicago Tribune ^ | 11/25/05 | Tom Rybarczyk

Posted on 11/25/2005 10:26:27 PM PST by NotJustAnotherPrettyFace

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A Canadian judge on Friday ordered a former Black Panther-turned-librarian back to Chicago to face charges that he tried to kill a police officer in 1969.

Joseph Pannell was picked up in Toronto last year after being a fugitive since 1974 on charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery. He was accused of shooting Chicago police Officer Terrence Knox. Pannell, who was 55 when he was arrested last year, is also charged with jumping bail.

Knox, who survived the attack, called the decision Friday by Justice David Watt "the most significant ruling in the case."

"I never thought they would ever catch this guy," Knox said. "Hopefully, when and if he comes back, this will be the end of an ongoing saga."

The bullets that authorities say Pannell fired severed nerves and arteries in Knox's arm, the former police officer said. Three doctors helped save his arm, but he said he still has pain and scars."

"Nine inmates escape from Yakima Co. Jail; five recaptured"

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "YAKIMA, Wash. -- Nine Yakima County Jail inmates used a rope made of bedsheets to escape Friday evening, authorities said.

Five were quickly recaptured before they could leave the jail grounds, said Will Paulakis, a Yakima County Corrections Department division chief.

The other four, including a 20-year-old man charged with second-degree murder, were being hunted by sheriff's officers, city police, the U.S. Marshal Service and corrections officers.

All were maximum security inmates, Paulakis said."

OPINION: My initial reaction was that I wondered how widespread this will be or if it is just isolated to this part of California?

"JI plot to kill Aussie ministers"
news.com.au ^ | 26th November 2005 | Simon Kearney

Posted on 11/26/2005 1:29:33 AM PST by naturalman1975

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "MINISTERS Alexander Downer and Chris Ellison were the intended targets of a plot by terror group Jemaah Islamiah to attack a memorial service last month for the victims of the 2002 Bali bombings.

A government source has confirmed that the plot, contained in detailed plans drawn up by terror mastermind Azahari bin Husin, was an attempt to assassinate the Australian foreign and justice ministers, who attended the service in Kuta along with 350 other people, including 50 Australian victims of the bombings. Mr Downer confirmed yesterday that there were fears the memorial could be targeted.

"Everybody knew that there were risks involved; it was there, we were all aware of that," he said.

"We put in place, as did the Indonesians, very substantial security for all those who went to the ceremony in Bali.

"The ceremony was ... short, but it was a very moving ceremony and I think it meant a lot to those families. And the fact that there was security ensured that they were safe."

Senator Ellison's office said he would not comment on issues relating to his safety."

"U.S. Expert Expelled From Indonesia, Again"
Updated: Friday, Nov. 25, 2005 - 7:25 AM

By ROBIN McDOWELL
Associated Press Writer

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) -

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The Brussels-based International Crisis Group opened an office in Indonesia in 2000 and has issued detailed and well-researched reports on separatist conflicts in Indonesia and the activities of the al-Qaida-linked Jemaah Islamiyah.

Jemaah Islamiyah has been blamed for at least four deadly bombings in Indonesia since 2002, including last month's triple suicide attacks on the resort island of Bali that killed 20 people.

Immigration department spokesman Supriatna Anwar said Jones would be barred from the country for one year.

"According to the law, anyone who enters Indonesia should be useful and not cause public disorder," he said without elaborating. "Maybe the government feels that at the moment she is not fulfilling those conditions."

Jones, of Albany, N.Y., is frequently interviewed by local and international media, but it is not clear what she may have said in recent weeks to anger the government. Since the Oct. 1 attacks, she has been largely complimentary about Jakarta's successes in cracking down on terrorists."

Heavy Weapons for Iran's Basij Militia
Rooz Online ^ | Friday, Nov 25, 2005 | Meysam Tavab

Posted on 11/26/2005 2:44:50 AM PST by F14 Pilot

In an unprecedented move, even during the 8-year Iran-Iraq war, Baseej Volunteer Militia has started arming some of its units with heavy arms. Taking place under the current administration, it is not clear whether a new role has been added to Baseej or whether its mission has changed altogether. What is not clear is the purpose of arming this force at peace time.

And since Baseej has been acting as an arm of the Judiciary, especially under Ahmadinejad’s administration, this change is looked at suspiciously. The principal mission of Baseej resistance mobilization force, under the law establishing it, is to carry out “military” responsibilities on the borders of the country.

This development is puzzling because even at the height of Iran-Iraq’s 8-year war when military operations were common at the fronts, Baseej only utilized light arms. It also has been using light arms in its operations to combat drug smugglers. Perhaps most importantly, the training structure and content of Baseej has only involved light arms.

Whenever the force had needed heavy arms in its operations against drug smugglers, units of Passdaran Revolutionary Guards Corps or the army have been called in.

"China's Cover Up of Chemical Accident Unveiled (residents used polluted water for 10 days)"
Epoch Times ^ | Nov 26, 2005 | By Li Dan

Posted on 11/26/2005 2:49:24 AM PST by NZerFromHK

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Water polluted by the chemical benzene in the Songhua River arrived at Harbin city's upstream water retrieval point, Sifangtai, at 5:00am on November 24. The polluted water will have passed the Harbin metropolitan area on the morning of November 26. After that, it will join the Hulan River, Tangwang River and Mudajiang River. Hopefully, with the increased water volume, dilution, sedimentation, adsorption, and other physical and chemical reactions, the concentration of nitrobenzene in the water could be reduced. Millions are now without water.

On November 13, an explosion took place at the Jilin Petroleum Benzene Production Plant, causing the Songhua River pollution incident. However, the Heilongjiang Province government withheld knowledge of the incident from the general media until November 23.

Two Different Notices in One Day Cause Chaos

On November 21, the Harbin City government issued two water cut-off notices but citing two totally different reasons."
