OPERATION BRUINS CONCLUDES

CAMP BLUE DIAMOND, Iraq – Approximately 150 Iraqi Army Soldiers and 300 Marines and Soldiers from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team (2 BCT) and 2nd Marine Division concluded Operation Dhibbah (Bruins) in northern ar Ramadi Nov. 20.

The operation netted several weapons caches used by al-Qaeda in Iraq-led terrorists to conduct direct attacks on Iraqi Army, U.S. forces and Ramadi citizens and to build hundreds of roadside bombs.

The caches were found Nov. 20, in a sweep through northern Ramadi. Plastic explosives, artillery and mortar shells, fuses and remote and pressure sensitive detonators were among the items found.

Marines conducting a combat patrol in support of the operation were attacked by a roadside bomb. There were no casualties or damage from the bomb which targeted the fourth armored Humvee in the column.

Marines were also attacked with a single rocket-propelled grenade while on patrol on the perimeter of the cordon area. The grenade impacted near the al Qudar Mosque but caused no casualties and limited damage.

Twenty-one rocket launchers and 43 rounds of RPG ammunition were discovered along with 23 medium machine guns, three sniper rifles and thousands of rounds of ammunition. Thirty-two black ski masks were also found in this cache.

Operation Bruins was part of a series of disruption operations in Ramadi designed to set the conditions for successful elections in December.

Attacks against Iraqi and U.S. forces in the Ramadi area have decreased 60 percent in the last few weeks, as a result of these ongoing operations.

Thanks Cindy. Sadly, I think that we need to be shocked with the true horror; so that we understand where the islamics would like to see all people who do not bow to allah. But it is the apologists like Chirac, who need to see this and explain why we should embrace these fanatics. Even with all the violence happening in France, they are still trying to please and appease these maniacs.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OPERATION STEEL CURTAIN CONCLUDES

CAMP BLUE DIAMOND, AR RAMADI, Iraq –Iraqi Army Soldiers and Marines, Soldiers and Sailors with Regimental Combat Team –2 wrapped up Operation Al Hajip Elfulathi (Steel Curtain) today near the Syrian border.

The 17-day offensive, which took place in the cities of Husaybah, Karabilah and Ubaydi, was part of the larger Operation Sayaid (Hunter) designed to prevent al Qaeda in Iraq-led terrorists from operating in the Euphrates River Valley and throughout al Anbar province. The operation made way for the establishment of a permanent Iraqi Army security presence in the al Qaim region and set the conditions for local citizens to vote in the upcoming Dec.15 elections.

Operation Steel Curtain ushered in the first large-scale operational employment of the Iraqi Army, approximately 1,000 Soldiers, in western al Anbar province. The Iraqi Soldiers conducted detailed clearing missions alongside Coalition counterparts and began establishing permanent bases within these three cities. Forces at these outposts will prevent the al Qaeda in Iraq-led terrorists from regaining a presence in these cities and threatening local residents with their murder and intimidation campaign.

Integration of locally recruited Iraqi Army Soldiers in al Anbar was introduced by the arrival of the Desert Protectors. The Desert Protectors were recruited from the al Qaim region and worked alongside the Iraqi Army and U.S. units throughout the course of the operation. Their familiarity with the area and its people was crucial in identifying friend from foe and enabled their Iraqi and Coalition partners to better understand the geographical complexities of the region.

Ten Marines were killed in fighting during Operation Steel Curtain. Since the operation began 139 terrorists were killed and 256 processed for detention.

The porous Iraq-Syria border was identified as a main route for men, material and money to be transited into Iraq. The western Euphrates River Valley region was known to be a major artery for al-Qaeda in Iraq terrorists. Iraqi Soldiers and U.S. forces moved in on Husaybah the morning of Nov. 5, followed shortly thereafter by Karabilah, Ubaydi and winding up clearing the Ramana region.

Iraqi Army Soldiers and U.S. forces will continue to maintain presence and increase efforts in securing the Iraq-Syria border.

I understand.

I know when I first saw the photos in October, I just sat there and stared at them for awhile and just prayed.

That's about all I want to say really on this.

"Nigeria governor flees UK justice dressed as woman"
reuters ^ | 11-22-2005 | Austin Ekeinde

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "YENAGOA, Nigeria (Reuters) - A Nigerian state governor charged with money laundering in Britain has escaped disguised as a woman and returned to his home state, where he enjoys immunity from prosecution.

The return of Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, governor of Bayelsa state in the oil-producing Niger Delta, deals a severe blow to President Olusegun Obasanjo's campaign to curb theft of public resources by some state governors."

Terror website investigated

AUSTRALIAN Federal Police are investigating a website linked to the Jemaah Islamiah group that tells would-be terrorists how to attack westerners.

The website, called Anshar El Muslimin, warns of attacks at a locations across Jakarta, including shopping centres, sports venues, hotels and the zoo.
It showed detailed maps and attack sites and escape routes, singling out the Kuningan area where the Australian embassy, International Trade Centre and Marriott hotel are located.

The website - reportedly set up on Jemaah Islamiah mastermind Noordin Top's orders by one of the Bali suicide bombing suspects - advises attacks in lunch areas, overhead walkways and traffic snarls, where westerners would be trapped in their vehicles.

AFP Commissioner Mick Keelty and Indonesian National Police chief General Sutanto discussed the website last week.

An AFP spokesman told The Australian newspaper today that Australian officers were working closely with their Indonesian counterparts to trace the origin of the website and its author.(snip)

Mall Suspect: 'Just Follow the Screams'

By CURT WOODWARD, Associated Press Writer

TACOMA, Wash. - A man accused of a shooting spree at a crowded
shopping mall told authorities to "just follow the screams" when he
called them shortly before opening fire with a pair of assault weapons,
according to court documents released Monday.

Plans for making bombs and the poison ricin were later found after a
search of the man's car and bedroom, prosecutors said. Dominick
Sergio Maldonado, 20, was ordered held on $2 million bail after
pleading innocent Monday to multiple charges that included
first-degree assault.

IRAN's AYATOLLAHS INVITE CUBAN LEADER TO BECOME A MUSLIM
AKI ^ | 22-Nov-05

Posted on 11/22/2005 11:06:36 AM PST by F14 Pilot

Tehran, 22 Nov. (AKI) - Iran's religious authorities in the holy Shiite city of Qom have officially invited Cuba's revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, to convert to Islam, according to Hojatolislam Mohammad Reza Hakimi, quoted by Iran's Farda news agency. "I met Castro together with the Iranian foreign minister, Saiid Salili, and gave him some sacred Islamic texts translated into Spanish," said Hakimi, who recently returned from a government visit to Cuba.

"We spoke with Castro for several hours, and I think I almost managed to convince him to become a Muslim," Hakimi added. "Castro certain that Cuba is suffering from a lack of spirituality, and seems very interested in Islam, above all in the writing of Iran's revolutionary leader, Ayatallah Khomeini," Hakimi continued.

Khomeini in 1989 invited Mikhail Gorbachev, former president of the Soviet Union, to renounce Communism and to convert to Islam. Gorbachev's political and economic reforms in the mid-1980s triggered the non-violent transition from authoritarian to democratic forms of government in Eastern Europe, and from state-controlled to more free-market economies.

Blood Debt Women Offered Up For Rape
The Telegraph (UK) ^ | 11-22-2005 | Isambard Wilkinson

Blood debt women offered up for rape

By Isambard Wilkinson in Sultanwala
(Filed: 22/11/2005)

A village council in Pakistan has decreed that five young women
should be abducted, raped or killed for refusing to honour childhood
"marriages".

The women, who are cousins, were married in absentia by a mullah in
their Punjabi village to illiterate sons of their family's enemies in 1996,
when they were aged from six to 13.

The marriages were part of a compensation agreement ordered by the
village council and reached at gunpoint after the father of one of the
girls shot dead a family rival.

The rival families have now called in their "debt", demanding the
marriages to the village men are fulfilled.

The case is becoming a cause célèbre in Pakistan, pitting tribal mores
against a group of modern-minded, educated women. Amna Niazi, the
eldest of the five at 22, is taking a degree in English literature, while
both her sisters want to attend university.

Their fathers are supporting them and have refused to hand them
over, leading to a resumption of the blood feud, with two relatives
shot recently and 20 people arrested, while promises of further
retribution and murder abound.

In addition to the sentence on the women, the village council has
sentenced to death Jehan Khan Niazi, the father of three of the
women, and the fathers of the other two for failing to honour the
supposed bond with men whose identities they are not even certain of.

The women have said they will commit suicide if their fathers obey the
council.

Speaking at their home in Sultanwala, a remote cotton and
sugar-cane growing village, Amna said: "It is a great injustice that
should be ended. Why should we pay for a crime committed by
someone else? We will commit suicide if it happens. We would be
treated like animals by them. Our misery would never end as this is
just another way of using us as tools in the feud." None of the women
has so far been able to marry as their childhood "marriages" hang
over them.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan condemned the "barbaric
custom of vani", - the tradition of handing over women to resolve
disputes - and called on President Pervez Musharraf to enforce a ban.

Last year a three-year-old girl near Multan was betrothed to a
60-year-old man in a similar settlement. The case led to parliament
passing a law banning vani and honour killings, but it has been widely
ignored.
