Good, a Senate doing nothing keeps America safer than a bunch of Senators raising taxes and increasing regulation.

What they really want is media coverage--but how will they get their fair share of sound bites and face time with the doors closed?

Why not give them their investigation? IF the congressional Pubbies can show some aggressiveness it should be simple to show how absurd the notions are that:

1. There was a white house "smear campaign". (What kind of campaign consists of passing comments to only two or three reporters?)
2. That the extravagant liar Joe Wilson is a "whistle-blower".
3. That Valerie Plame, or her husband, was protective of her cover.

In fact it may be that the 'Rats are only clamoring for this investigation on the presumption that Republicans will NOT go along with it. If the Pubbies said, "Sure!" and appeared eager the 'Rats might backpedal.

Someone should tell Dick Durbin the press won't let them shut it everyday. They won't play that game for long as and Dick will not get TV face time if he really wants to restrict press access long term.
