I am a bit late to the party and cant stay long.
I say let the dems do it and just have a couple of token republicans sit in on it to make sure no funny business happens. And every day while they do it we have our senators get on tv and make them look small and petty. Just an idea.
Oh, it's quite simple. Every day, Frist, Lott, and McCain can hold a press conference on the Capitol steps with Samuel Alito. At each session, Samuel Alito can give a lesson on the Constitution to the public. Basics about closed-door sessions, precedent, etc. etc. etc.
If they want to prevent Alito from getting a hearing in Congress, he can get a public hearing on the front steps.
