Here is what is going on, people:

This was the worst week for Democrats in the whole of the Bush Administration. They cannot win at the ballot box, they cannot win in the courts, and they don't have the power to rally their base and raise money without doing these stupid radical things.

Harry Reid isn't smart enough to do what was done today, he simply followed orders.

Don't underestimate how much the Dems lost when Fitzgerald didn't indict Rove. That was their whole universe. They staked everything on that, and they lost. Then with Alito, the Dems got knocked right out of the news cycle, with their agenda in the toilet.

So, they threw a hail-mary today, and it almost scored. It didn't. It didn't, because they were hoping to get slapped down, so that in their outrage, they could just walk out and stop Senate business. That is still likely to be their plan. When the time comes, probably when Republicans NUKE their asses, they will just walk out and not allow Senate business to move forward.

This is the only way they can stop the Republican agenda from moving forward now. They are going to go on strike. What they want is to create a situation where Republicans go medieval on them, and give them an excuse to walk. Republicans were smart to just let it go.

Right on!

It's hard to believe Democrats are so Stuck on Stupid. They apparently learned nothing from the backlash that hit Republicans when they impeached Bill Clinton. They are so consumed with hatred for George Bush - and I'm starting to think they hate Karl Rove even more - that they are rapidly driving what's left of their party right off a cliff. Why shouldn't Republicans just take the high road, sit back, and enjoy the show?

Republicans don't have to fight dirty. They don't have to go back mediaval on them, as you called it.

But Republicans DO have to combat the lies. Lies about our president, our military's mission in Iraq, and the pre-war intelligence.

Maybe you think it's smart to take it on the cheek, I think it's dumber than dumb.

We can simply make a commercial reminding viewers that Clinton had an indictment against OBL which showed that he worked with Iraq.

We can simply make a commercial or have a press conference which reminds viewers that the Democrats signed a war resolution which stated that it was known that AQ was working with Iraq.

We can simply make a commerial or hold a press conference which reminds viewers that at least 30 major Democrats made statements in 1998 that Iraq's WMD showed a clear and present danger to the country.

It is an absolute dis-service to our fine military to let the Democraps lie about their mission like this.

I don't believe it's smart to just "let it go." That doesn't mean I'm calling for more speeches, hysteria or even opening their mouthes. I'm talking about rules changes that severely hampers the ability of the Dems to provide any sort of leadership. I'm talking about retribution in the form of budget cuts in specific districts, targeted redistricting and all out warfare played out through legitimate means.

The GOP base, the guys knockin on doors, making phone calls and stuffing envelopes want blood. A speech, no matter how good, by Roberts ain't gonna cut it.

It's about time the GOP uses their political capital to undercut Dem efforts across the board.

I'll agree with that analysis.

Trouble for the Dems is that I'm now fully back onboard to elect all Reps just to punish the Dems because of this stunt. I suspect many conservatives feel the same.

Your points are well taken- however...my son, and thousands of other Americans in the armed forces have gone to Iraq to fight this war. I am completely fed up with Republicans allowing the spin on WMD etc to go on- it does great to dishonor to our servicemen and women. It's one thing to let em whirl when it's about lesser issues. NOT when it comes to WAR.

Federal Government Employees cannot strike. I could not when I worked at the Pentagon, and The Patco People found out they could not either. If they pull anything like that they need to be furloughed, fined or both. I believe a nice sum would be $15,000 per day.

So, they threw a hail-mary today, and it almost scored.

Sorry. Their Hail Mary scored, at least for today. This was the top story on the New York City local news, even though Prince Charles' visit should have overshadowed it. And the New York media is claiming that the Democrats won with their tantrum by getting what the Republicans had already promised. At a minimum, this will rally the moonbats.

Too bad for the Democrats, though - they are now down 35-7, instead of 35-0, with 5 minutes to go in the fourth quarter.

So when they walk.... let 'em! And the Repubs can and should change the Senate rules to allow them to conduct business with just a quorum. The Repubs are the majority party, even with the habitual round-robin betrayal of 4-5 assorted RINOs. I think even the RINOs would start falling in line if & when they see unyielding resolve from President Bush, the administration and the GOP leadership. But grow some spine and do it! I would actually love to see the DimWits walk out and for the remaining 55 Repub senators to conduct business as usual. It can be done if the Repubs have a spine to do it!

Seems to me I remember they told us a long time ago that when push came to shove they would simply shut down the senate. Yes, Fitzgerald let them down. No Fitzmas gifts this year so they will have to use Plan B to bring down the administration. That of course is the intelligence hearings to fry Cheney, Rice and Rumsfeld. All they have to do is dirty them up, smear them, and wrap the unpopular war around their necks by having the MSM hammer them enough for Dems to regain control of House and Senate. Then they'll be off to the races with the impeachment!
