Why don't they just change Rule 21 to require a majority vote? They already have the option to to change any Senate rules since they left it open for the nuclear option.

Rule XXI has some legitimate uses, typically in Declaration of War contexts where time is of the essence.

It's not a bad rule. It's being abused today. See also the cloture rule - it has a good purpose.

Trying to "codify" everything is the liberal way - better to have fewer rules and men and women of good sense and honor be bound to them as they (the rules) are intended to function - which is to provide for SMOOTH government function, not "gotcha politics."

BTW, CNN and MSNBC are NOT broadcasting any comments by the Repubs... they're adhering to the strict Moonbat Line...

Figures.

This is a Democrat nervous breakdown, that's all. I find it quite humorous

And when the Dems pols start into the "nervous breakdown" mode, you always start to see some semi-reasonable liberals (usually journalists) try to steer them back on the path of sanity, but most often they ignore them, and then they lose more elections.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought a number of investigations have already happened since the war started concerning intelligence leading up to the war. Wasn't one of them cochaired by McCain? Additionally there was one on WMD...

"Heck of allot happening in a short amount of time. They've snapped."

Nah, they had to have planned this to coincide with the indictments and Joe Wilson's "Look at Me" tour.

My predecessors had the wisdom and foresight to create a committee intended to be above partisan politics so it could be an effective and credible watchdog. It is now apparent that the Democrats planned to undermine the integrity of the committee by conducting a partisan attack, which threatens to destroy the credibility of an institution that has served the U.S. Senate and the nation well for nearly 30 years. I oppose them and for this I make no apologies.

Pat Roberts, Republican senator from Kansas, is chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

Be intersting to see this roll call. I wonder if the entire D caucus was in on it or will support it.

If Reid sees less that 40, he may get spooked off doing it again.

No vote necessary to go into closed session. Just a motion and a second

...unless someone objects and calls for a vote on it- I think
(that's what I was asking)
either way they get to stall

wonder if they'd appreciate votes at 2 am in closed or open sessions...

The Dems better have a DAMP CIGAR to justify this. My guess is they don't. But being Dems, making it up will do just as well with their presstitiute buddies.

Oh, it's quite simple. Every day, Frist, Lott, and McCain can hold a press conference on the Capitol steps with Samuel Alito. At each session, Samuel Alito can give a lesson on the Constitution to the public. Basics about closed-door sessions, precedent, etc. etc. etc.

If they want to prevent Alito from getting a hearing in Congress, he can get a public hearing on the front steps.

Sen. Bond using Bill Clinton's own words saying
Saddam would develop Nuclear weapons.

Now he's exposing Joe Wilson as a liar.

I'm very impressed with him today.

MSNBC saying Senate to re-open in 10 minutes!

Maybe the Republicans told them they would talk about Libby if they would talk about his wife who works for the democrats.

Of course not, which is one reason why I won't watch either one of them.
