Apple on Monday announced that its customers at its iTunes Music Store has bought and downloaded more than one million videos in less than 20 days. Video content first appeared for purchase on October 12, 2005.
Although videos have been available for viewing and have been bundled with music purchases, Apple first began offering video content for purchase in mid-October, with the introduction of new 30GB and 60GB fifth generation iPods that can play back video as well.
Apple has over 2,000 music videos, short films from Pixar and TV shows available for purchase for US$1.99 each. Top draws at the store include music videos from Michael Jackson, Fatboy Slim and Kanye West, short features from Pixar including For the Birds and Boundin and episodes of ABCs Lost and Desperate Housewives.
In a statement, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said the response to the video content suggests there is a market for legal video downloads.
Our next challenge is to broaden our content offerings, so that customers can enjoy watching more videos on their computers and new iPods, said Jobs.

I want to see more of the classic 80's videos - back when they were still fun.

Yup. Agreed. They are the innovators. Too bad they can't figure out how to gain a lot of market share with their ideas.

I got my first look at the Video iPod yesterday, and I was surprised and impressed. It looks a bit fragile compared to my IPod mini, but I might end up getting one.

Too bad they can't figure out how to gain a lot of market share with their ideas. They've made substantial gains in market share over the last year. But the more important measurement for Apple is growth of the installed base. Apple has a bright future.

no idea?
what idiot would be jealous of a video player?????? or any material item for that matter... that's just ridiculous.
I guess I don't get the fascination with watching videos on a 2" screen.
I have an old Sony watchman, it has a 2" screen and sits in the closet collecting dust, but at least it can pickup local stations...
don't get me wrong, as a mp3 player... it's very cool and easy to use...

Lost and Desperate Housewives.
This is their target audience?
iPod = the new AOL. For those who don't know enough to know they are being taken for a ride.
There is nothing the iPod does that other devices don't do, but sheeple just follow the "buzz".
