I understand that CBS NEWS Chief White House correspondent John Roberts described the President’s selection of Judge Samuel Alito as “sloppy seconds” during today’s press conference with White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan. I find that deeply offensive. Look it up. John Roberts should apologize to President Bush, Press Secretary Scott McClellan, his counterparts at the press conference can Amercia. That is a disgusting question to ask and your bruised and battered news organization just keeps digging.

It's not that offensive. Besides, some Republicans, such as RNC spokeswoman Tara Wall called John Edwards "sloppy seconds." Yes it has another meaning, but it's used all the time in politics.

You're right and you missed the point. Having a little fun at the expense of an idiot. Love to watch them scramble. Got to stir the nest first to get them chasing their tails.

"Sloppy seconds" is not appropriate vernacular weather describing Judge Alito or Sen John Edwards. It was wrong to use this gutter mouth vernacular in both cases. With respect to John Roberts, I wish I could say I'm surprised. Also, one gutter mouthed phrase does not make a career in reporting, but if I were Scott M, I'd have thrown him out of the briefing and told him you can reapply in a year.
