Amherst Regional High School will stop using the term "freshman" to refer to ninth-grade students because the term is not inclusive enough for some members of the faculty there, according to the Concord Monitor.
Students in ninth grade will now be referred to as ... wait for it ..."ninth-graders" in all official documents and morning announcements.
ARHS Assistant Principal Marta Guevara, who pushed for the change, said the decision to move away fromLee, who immigrated from Korea at age 10,

This only exists in the back of the mind of a very few people. People of this set are always going to "aware of the possible misogynistic, oppressive or non-inclusive language." no matter what. Why should we allow a handful of mentally inconsistent individuals dictate the use of our language. Our system of words were handed down to us from a body of the academically astute. Why lower our standards?
9th graders, how very simple! Whodathunkit? Well, back in the dark ages when I was in junior high, that's what we were called. Our first year of high school wasn't until 10th grade.
Come to think of it, I've been psychologically damaged by being called a sophomore! Yeah, that's it!

I was a freshman once, a long time ago. It really sucked. I DEMAND reparations now!
