Teacher dies from beating Oct 30, 2005, 07:44 PM

WAFF 48 News has learned the teacher who was brutally beaten at Valley school has died.

The attack happened Wednesday inside the Lawrence County Family Education building in Moulton.

Doctors say Judy Jester's condition worsened and she never regained consciousness.

She died Sunday afternoon at Huntsville Hospital.

Jester was a first grade teacher at Hatton Elementary School.

She was found bleeding and unconscious inside the Lawrence County Family Education building in Moulton Wednesday night.

Investigators say the she had been beaten several times in the head and face.

Jester suffered a fractured skull and a brain stroke.

A 15-year old is accused of attacking her.

The unidentified teenager is being held at a detention center in Lauderdale County.

Police believe robbery may have been the motive behind the beating.

The teenager faces robbery, burglary and attempted murder charges, but now those charges are expected to be upgraded.

The teenager could be charged as an adult.

WAFF 48 News will continue to follow this story and will bring you new details as we get them.

That is an entirely false characterization of the SC ruling in this matter. There were already plenty of states which do not allow the execution of juveniles. Hence, trying to make it appear as if the Court based its ruling on Europe or Africa or Asia is a total distortion.

Someone I know taught at a public school in Birmingham, AL. One of the students was out on parole for armed robbery, another would expose himself to the class, her purse was stolen. IIRC, one student brought a gun to class.

She quit, lest she end up like this poor woman, and the State of Alabama yanked her teaching certificate for two years for breaking her contract.

She was quite happy to take a job that paid less as a secretary for a private company.

This has been all over our local news. He's a black male. Also, its been reported that he will be tried as an adult. Good thing Alabama has the death penalty. I hope he gets it.

He won't. Don't you remember the SCOTUS said that "children" under the age of 16 who murder can't be put to death, since the other countries (at least the countries that they want to quote in this case) don't do it...

I believe you are right as teachers are not allowed concealed carry on school property. As easy mark.........

Obviously, the crime is the primary story but the issue of workplace rules & regulations rendering someone essentially defenseless should be the leading secondary story. And that such r/r's can tell the world more about you than you might, at first thought, realize.

That's one big 15 year-old. Wonder how much height/weight advantage he had over the teacher?

I had a student tell me he had a deer plug with my name on it. I wonder what the little hooligan is up to these days?

Tell me again, why would any sane person want to be a teacher when the laws currently are structured to bring about this type of a result.

This problem is only aggravated by the NEA that is populated at the top by types that promote keeping incompetants in our schools while at the same time, promoting laws that weaken our educational system.

This is an example of what happens when kids that have obvious mental problems are kept in the system and not incarcerated in an institution.

The teachers I remember were armed, with a paddle. And they were quick to use it.

"The unidentified teenager is being held at a detention center in Lauderdale County."

Wow. Really glad they are protecting the constitutional rights of this young fellow. It might warp his psychy if his name ever got out (sarcasm).

Crimes like this are what hemp rope nooses were invented for. Too bad we have lost this ancient skill.

Thank goodness the SCOTUS has ruled that this child can't be executed for his "bad decision" to rob and murder this first grade teacher.

Not long ago a Richmond student beat a female math teacher for enforcing the no cell phone rule. She was the teacher of the year. She was young . I do not know if she lives or now. Looking at that 15 year old I see a grown man with a linebacker body. The poor teacher in Alabama never had a chance.

Lets see black student white teacher ....no hate crime here...everyone move along, only whites according to liberals, JJ, Sharpton, Farrakan, Spike Lee are the racists.

Dont see any reason for this to be on the national news, blacks are always the victim.

(sarcasm alert)

My thoughts, as well. I've had 15 year olds in my classes who were 6'+, 200+. I'd guess him at 5'10", 180... Hm, maybe 200... look at those calves and triceps. He eats his Wheaties.

My wife is a teacher with those that need extra help in high school. Some have learning disabilities and her efforts to see one graduate is her reward. But then there are problem ones that have gone from school to school because of attitude, etc. Most of these do not have learning disabilities, just too lazy or uncaring to be a productive student. I do worry about her at times because she takes no B.S. from them and continues to try to reach for their attention and help them become responsible adults. My respect for her knows no bounds and the "kids" have acquired a respect for her also.
I see many posts condemning and chastising the public school systems, with good cause. But there are some systems and teachers who still apply "old-fashioned" values, political correctness be da*ned. Thoughts and prayers to the family of the young teacher in northern Alabama. The "kid" crossed the line and should reap what he has sown....tried and punished as a murderous adult.
