Snail Mail is not a good idea -- FAX is a much better idea. It takes forever to get a letter into the Congressional offices since the anthrax scare. Better to send it locally or FAX to DC

You are right Fax is faster then snail mail. Do both. The FAX is first to alert them of your option. The followup of the snail mail which take up to 6 weeks and backs up what the fax stated. And second is a visit to local office with a copy of the fax and a copy of the snail mail to back up what you sent to Washington.. These two actions will carry more weight get a faster reaction or reply from the congress person. Because it show that you really care and took the time to say so. In my letters I state that I am faxing this letter and also sending it thought the mail.
One other thing. You get these preprinted form letters or cards to just sign and send off. Don't send them. First rewrite it in your own words. Using the text of the form if you want. Then FAX your rewrite and then send the rewrite by mail. I heard that the preprinted cards and letters are really not looked at in the congress persons office. If you spend the time to write in long hand or type it or generate it on a computer it has more weight with the congress person. And you will get a reply. I always have gotten a reply to this course of action by return letter or a phone call.. Think of it as Voting. No matter how you contact anyone in elected office. Your voting. Because you are expressing your option just like on election day when you vote for or against what is on the ballot.
