You can't just go by who he sided with - that is how Republicans have repeatedly gotten into trouble when trying to pick an originalist and ending up with a judicial activist.

You have to look at what the relevant laws were involved in the case and the what the details of the case were. There is nothing wrong with siding with a gay student who was being taunted if that was the correct ruling according to the relevant laws.
