'Jail Me' Judy: I Like Dowd & Dirty Maureen, Too
New York Post ^ | October 31, 2005 | LEELA de KRETSER

Posted on 10/31/2005 12:53:20 AM PST by nickcarraway

Embattled New York Times reporter Judith Miller responded to catty colleague Maureen Dowd's snippy column with a seven-point rebuttal sent by e-mail, New York magazine is reporting. What were Miller's first words?

"I like you, too" — a direct attack on Dowd's now-infamous lead, "I've always liked Judy Miller."

The flamethrowing Dowd used the sugarcoated line before she trashed her colleague as a seat-stealer and for her "tropism toward powerful men," before calling for her resignation.

But the magazine shows today it's Dowd — rather than Miller — who has earned her stripes as a red-haired temptress.

Along with her well-document trysts with actor Michael Douglas and West Wing-creator Aaron Sorkin, it seems the 53-year-old has not been shy when it comes to office romances.

Dowd spills the beans on affairs with former editor Howell Raines — who took the bullet for the last Times scandal, over the plagiarizing Jayson Blair — and fellow columnist John Tierney, with whom she now shares a bathroom at the 43rd Street office.

And Dowd relies on her gal pals in the newsroom — with the mag revealing a perception there "that Dowd's clique gets special treatment" because of their looks.

The "clique" includes "cool girls" of the Times Alessandra Stanley and Michiko Kakutani. They reportedly enjoy a special relationship with managing editor Jill Abramson, who proclaimed on the paper's front page that Miller's nickname is "Miss Run Amok."

And yet, she couldn't keep Michael Douglas.

Hmmm...I wonder why?

Hmmmmmmmmm?

Mean Girls!

All the main stream media are like Junior High: nerds who grew up to be "cool, powerful, journalists". Ugh. V's wife.

Using sex to get ahead is nothing new. Women have done it for years and then denied doing it.

Yesterday on MTP, Safire said the only adult thing about the whole affair in that he respected Miller and then Judy Woodruff had to take it back to the JrHigh level.

Dowd is the feminisation of the NYT and it isn't good.

I'm shocked. I always though Maureen 'I'm always willing but bring a nice bottle of something when you come' Dowd got where she was by virtue of her sharp political instincts and pithy, objective writing.

Looks like "Mo" is doing in the office what she has been trying to do to conservative Republicans! Tisk, Tisk!! The NY Times is airing all of it's dirty laundry and it is interesting to see inside that cess pool of print.

Ah yes...the cute girl clique. It is 7th grade all over again. Let's see there were the jocks, the nerds, the cute girls, the plain girls, the grits etc...

These people are not "The News". The news, is the news.
Let's not lose focus or give them any satisfaction. I like a good Cat-Fight too, but we end up perpetuating these arse-wipes more than is deserved.
