Remember...if you are not seeking employment, you are not unemployed. (just envisioning the DU Response) This stat is not a surprise...Larry Elder talks all the time about how blacks historically have higher wages, more employment and more instances of home ownership under Republican presidents. He is always making the point that the racist entitlement programs that are always pitched by the left do nothing to really help out blacks. Instead, they increase their dependance on the government and erode their self reliance. He also talks about how the Republican party has historically done more to advance the cause of minorities than Byrd and the clan ever did. Aside from the obvious abolishment of slavery brought about by conservative religious leaders and Lincoln, they also founded the NAACP (look it up). Meanwhile, the Democrats were passing Jim Crow laws and Byrd was busy filibustering the Civil Rights Act of 1964 for 80 some odd days. I just don't get how minorities can identify themselves with a party that has been on the wrong side of every issue that would seem to be in their best interest for the last 200 years. Can conservatives count on the minority vote by simply promising free health care and a raise in the minimum wage every election cycle? If I was a minority I would be offended by this last statement, but for some reason the Democrats have been able to use this carrot for years now with great success. Can some one please tell me why?

The dems platform of hand outs looks at first glance, as if it means they actually care about the black population. But what is really going on is a racist practice to keep blacks out of the workforce so the racist doesn't have to work or compete with them. And also out of their neighborhoods so they don't have to live by them because the dem handouts are small enough to make sure they don't live in their neighborhoods.

The Republicans offer doesn't look quite so good at first glance. It's just freedom to work hard and become all that you can. But if you follow the Republican road, you get to work with (and in some instances outshine) some of those dems who offered you that hand out to get you to stay home. And also if you follow the Republican road you get to live in those dems neighborhoods and probably in a bigger house then theirs. : )

I can. Education.

Until this country rallies together to demand excellence in its public schools...some kids won't ever hear the words "reading comprehension, critical thinking, etc., etc., etc., unless their parents utter the words.

Few in the rural south still!!! THIS IS 2005!!! hear those words.
