PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: The President and Mrs. Bush are spending the weekend in Camp David.

THE WEEK AHEAD: Press Secretary Scott McClellan announced the week-ahead schedule for the first time in over two months.

Monday, the President will attend the memorial service for Rosa Parks in Washington. He will also meet with Prime Minister Berlusconi of Italy at the White House.

On Tuesday, the President will give a speech in Washington on our national strategy for pandemic and influenza preparedness and response.

On Wednesday, the President and Mrs. Bush will welcome the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall to the White House. The President and Mrs. Bush will host a dinner for the Royal couple.

Thursday through Monday they will be traveling to South America.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: From the Presidential Radio Address, Saturday, October 29, 2005.

On Tuesday, the Iraqi election commission formerly certified the passage of the new Iraqi constitution, after nearly 10 million Iraqis turned out to vote on it two weeks ago. This is a moment of tremendous significance for Iraq, the region, and the world. Three years ago, when Saddam Hussein ruled with an iron grip, the prospect of Iraqis voting on a democratic constitution would have been unthinkable. Now, the Iraqi people have shown that individual rights and rule by the people are universal principles, and that these principles can become the basis for free and decent governments throughout the Middle East.

The progress we have made so far has involved great sacrifice. The greatest burden has fallen on our military families. We've lost some of our nation's finest men and women in the war on terror. Each of them has left grieving families and loved ones back home. Each loss of life is heartbreaking. Yet these patriots have also left a legacy that will allow generations of their fellow Americans, and millions of others who have only known oppression, to enjoy the blessings of liberty.

The best way to honor the sacrifice of our fallen troops is to complete the mission and win the war on terror. We will train Iraqi security forces and help a newly elected government meet the needs of the Iraqi people. In doing so, we will lay the foundation of peace for our children and grandchildren.

PHOTO OF THE DAY: Happy 1st birthday, Beezie, with much affection from your fans on the Dose. To celebrate, here's a brand new photo of our little Scottish darling. She was playing on the South Lawn yesterday with a signed soccer ball, which I assume was a gift from the White House staff.

Miss Beasley to Barney: "You beast. You're not a 'real' conservative. You're a Bushbot." Barney to Miss Beasley: "Chill. Then get a life, newbie."

Speaking of chilling -- President Ronald Reagan loved the White House squirrels. Although this one doesn't live at the White House, he shows us the attitude our great former President enjoyed so much.

With no new photos of the President available today, a few grand ones from the past seemed in order today.

Barney and The Boss celebrate the fact that Barney escaped indictment. Barney wisely chose to exercise his 5th Amendment rights and kept silent, thereby avoiding charges that had nothing to do with the original allegations brought against him. He does, however, vigorously deny that he ate some note the prosecutor was demanding be turned over.
