What is relevant are the obscure intentions of this prez who goes against both poles and his base...there is darkness and betrayal in this....but the only person he is betraying is himself into irrelevancy if he acts like this.

This is much more than Miers, get over it yourselves.

What would you like people to do - observe a week-long period of mourning during which we sit around somberly reading and reflecting on the wit and wisdom of Harriet Miers as passed down in her speeches, such as this kernel?:

"Courage is lacking in would-be leaders many times today."

Harriet would have been roasted alive at the hearings. She's been spared that fate.

The day Miers withdrew, she proclaimed loyalty to conservatives...

And that proclamation is binding... how?

Would it not be reasonable to conclude that she was just telling people what they wanted to hear, and her consistent positions voiced over the years would be the most likely indicator of her future positions?

All her recent statements prove is that she can parrot talking points on a fairly consistent basis for a fairly short period of time. This is not the basis for making a lifetime appointment.
