(((hugs)))

Good evening, Mayor. Thanks for our lesson in God's Word!

The two will face a challenge on election day from write-in hopeful Rus Thompson, who has continued campaigning despite his loss in a Republican primary against Kaiser in September.

Thompson, who announced his intention to run against Chuck Swanick in December before either endorsed candidate entered the race, said he is also opposed to Giambra’s proposed budget and feel county government needs to be “dismantled.”

While he was denied the Republican Party’s support, he said the leaders of the Erie County Republican Committee took his ideas and made them part of their REFORM platform.

“I met with Carl Calabrese (the County Republican Committee’s executive director) and he was totally enthusiastic about it,” said Thompson, who feels party leaders rejected him because he worked with Democrats as well as Republicans and Conservatives. “Because I didn’t cook clam chowder and I didn’t cook hamburgers, because I wasn’t part of their clique, I couldn’t get the party endorsement.”
