Exactly Taz, the only time I had to think was after the dog took after mine. Everything else was so fast, I just reacted. All I remember is thinking, I have to lay on top of my daughter, when the dog returns. I'm afraid of dogs but I yelled don't you dare so strongly and it scared him. I was so happy it worked. I know normally, that dogs sense my fear and it only makes them bolder.
