ALERT: Blair hints at military action after Iran's 'disgraceful' taunt to Israel

TONY BLAIR served warning last night that the West might have to take military action against Iran after worldwide condemnation of its President’s call for Israel to be “wiped off the map”.

Ending a one-day European Union summit, the Prime Minister called the explosive declaration by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday a disgrace.

Promising discussions with Washington and other allies over how to react, Mr Blair said that he had often been urged not to take action against Iran.

But, he continued: “If they carry on like this the question people will be asking us is — when are you going to do something about Iran? Can you imagine a state like that with an attitude like that having nuclear weapons?”

It was the first time Mr Blair had even hinted at military action and his words are likely to alarm Labour MPs. Mr Blair, clearly angry at the President’s outburst, said that there were people in Iran’s leadership who believed that the world was sufficiently distracted with everything else that it could not afford to focus on the nuclear arms issue.

“They will be making a very big mistake if they do that. Those sentiments are completely unacceptable. I have never come across a situation in which the President of a country has said they want to wipe out another country — not that they have a problem with a country but they want to wipe it out. That is completely unacceptable.”

"...which is the State Department's M.O."

Their MO is worse than that. They actively aid and abet the enemy, while pretending to be incompetent.

"We'll be fortunate to be already in position to eradicate the threats to peace once and for all."

May play out like that to an extent, picture not saying that Hillary would lead such an action, are you?

"I agree there is a strong contingent of Iranians that would like nothing better than to greet our tanks and hmmvees"

I read an estimate of 80% opposition to the regime. 20% support, but I can't remember the source.

"Israel doesn't need Great Britton to fight its battles, just keep the french from stabbing them in the back while they are otherwise occupied."

Well said.

"I think its pretty clear we're on our own. The rest of the world seems to prefer becoming caliphates of Islam rather than join in the fight against these life-sucking leeches."

Sad but true. Germany is now considering creating a new holiday to honor the Muslims. The idea, apparently, is that they hope this will make the Muslim spare them.

I wonder if any of these people have ever had experience with a bully?

There were many classic WWII games along the lines of Russian Campaign. On the Western Front, were the Germans to have been attacked sooner it would have probably bought France and Britain enough time to hold France. I don't think it is a given that "once the Germans attacked Poland they would lose." It simply shifts the board considerably with the Russians on one front intact and the Germans facing united and early aggressive action on the Western front. The war may have had an early negotiated end at Poland's expense.

Well, according to Kimche's analysis its a given historically and I believe him. A game can be different, I suppose.

"Why mess around and get more people killed? Unrepresentative governments end with the deaths of their leaders. Take out the political leadership and a handful of military leaders and the enemy loses the ability to act effectively against us."

That would not be enough to effect regime change in Iran."

Take the B2 fleet, one night, 320 MK-84 JDAMS; 160 from top down of Iranian mullahs and selected military. Prefaced by a days heads up similar to the ones given as psyops to Iraqi generals prior to the invasion. Supplemented by two weeks of Commmado Solo broadcasts/Internet assurances and arms drop to known locationsspecial ops guys.

You'd have a helluva an overnight insurgency against the current regime.

"You'd have a helluva an overnight insurgency against the current regime."

I almost have to assume you plan to coordinate this with an attempt to arm the general populace. In which case, I agree.

If they have, the've learned nothing from it. Insanity is doing the same stupid thing over and over and expecting a different result.

Kimche is just gaming as well. There is no alternate universe with a different result.

The only thing I picture Hillary saying is "You want fries with that?"...though that is an insult to every hard working people in the fast food service but, still, her out of government would be the best thing this country could ever ask for.
