Specter today: "I think that this is a sad episode in the history of Washington, D.C. ... The way Harriet Miers has been treated is really disgraceful."
Good luck.
The same way you put a vanity in News/Activism. You just do it.
What if Specter "Borks" the next nominee? If he/she is pro-life, he will.
Nominate one who is clearly qualified, and who has no skeletons in the closet (other than his originalist views themselves.) Wash, rinse, repeat until Berkeley freezes over.
And answer all criticism of the nominee(s) by the unbending assertion that the President (and those who voted for him) are fully entitled to put a Justice on the Court who shares their politics, worldview, understanding of the Constitition, and general judicial philosophy. And if not, make it abundantly clear to the idiots that they will never, ever get Justices to their liking, no matter who is President. Filibustering of judges will become a fixture of American politics for ever more.
Is it too late for his mother to abort him?
Simply suspend his bathroom privileges until he gets with the program. Cut pork from his districts. We control the whole damn government - if the Democrats can keep strict party-line control without even holding any power anywhere, there is no excuse for being unable to bring one sick and dying Senator into line.
By hook or by crook, that is how. If he starts to get in the way it is up to the non-RINOs to make it hurt as much as they possibly can.
You mean like sitting there quietly in a press conference while Leahy said her answers to the questionaire were insulting and an embarassment?
As Bork himself said of Specter: "The Truth is not in him."
We already had our shot at a pro-lifer and she was "Mier'd"
Easy. Demand that since he was so concerned about the "treatment" of the nominee, that he guarantee he'll support the next one 100%. We can't have another one given that "treatment," especially by the libs or RINOs.
One way would be to nominate Federal Appeals Court Judge Samuel Alito, a Scalia disciple who apparently is someone Sen. Specter is fond of personally and who he would enthusiastically support if nominated.
According to her speeches, as reported in Wash Post, yesterday, she was squishy on pro-life..."self-determination" with Barbra as her authority!?!
'Single Bullet Sphincter' ought to just shut up.
The Specter was already brought into line over his chair just a year ago; we know this liberal can be reined; the bit has tested positive.
Bush was the one who insisted on this idiot remaining as chairman and in the Senate. It's Bush's problem to deal with.
And Bush had better deal with it, or his term is over.
Yup...the door is now open for lots of Borking to take place.
She was a Harried nominee.
Uh huh...well, it's all moot now. She's toasted and gone.
Let's hope we don't get what we deserve.
