Perhaps I should also add, academic freedom, which has usually been a highly valued principle in American universities.

The problem is that only politically correct academic freedom is currently allowed. I agree that the university has a right to keep reasonable order. But they have to do so fairly. It's OK for the LGBT faction to jump on this guy with insults, but he's supposed to keep his mouth shut about them. That's not a good basis for discussion of the issues, which is what a college should encourage.

It would be reasonable for them to tell both sides to tone it down, and warn them about continuing unacceptable behavior. But it's not reasonable to punish persons only on one side of the dispute.

Of course, I agree with you completely. The hypocrisy of allowing the hateful speech of leftist or nihilist "revolutionaries" while punishing the other side is sickening. Period.

I had a chance to work in academia. It took me about 30 seconds to decide, "Naahhh!"
