The United Nations Security Council today took up discussion on what Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad might have meant when he called for Israel to be "wiped out from the map".
Secretary General Kofi Annan said Iran, as a member of the U.N., must be given the benefit of the doubt that the phrase was intended to encourage peaceful diplomacy.
"'Wiped' is a word that can denote cleanliness," said Mr. Annan. "The Iranian president may have simply meant that the map should be cleaned so Israel's legitmate borders are easier to see."
Mr. Ahmadinejad's remarks came during the month-long 'World without Zionism' celebration, and echoed the Ayatollah Khomeini's previous comments about map hygiene.
In related news, the U.S. House today begins debate on creation of a month-long holiday called 'World Without Islamofascism.'
President George Bush said he looks forward to celebrating the new holiday with a ceremonial "wiping of the map."

Except for the last line, if this had been published with the MSM as the source instead of Scrappleface, I would never have know it was satire.
Check this out...
I guess it depends on what "is" is?
True, but in this case it is all too believable!
: )
This article is a joke, right?
Yes, it's satire...read the other comments...
how stupi, and insignificant again the un is--start the engines
LOL! I could hear Kofi saying these very words, it's not a stretch at all. Except I would expect him to get significant bribes first before he said it.
Time for the UN to find a new home. They are a wothless corrupt POS anti-American and anti-Isreali joke.
But that would take away the fun of watching reactionaries make fools of themselves.
This is satire, and VERY close to the truth...sadly this is not:

The Iranian president maintains his remarks on Israel TEHERAN - the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, maintained Friday his remarks inviting "to strip Israel off the chart" and challenged the wave of indignation which they caused in Occident (sic), affirming that its declarations were "correct and right".
"They are free of speaking but their words do not have any validity. It is obvious that if a word is correct and right it will cause a reaction ", said president Ahmadinejad, quoted by the official agency Irna.
"My words are the exact words of the Iranian people", it affirmed.
Irna indicated that Mr. Ahmadinejad then criticized "the international Zionism and the expansionist policy of the world arrogance", terms which indicate usually the United States and Israel.
"They are shameless beings, and they think that the whole world should obey to them", said the Iranian president. "They destroy Palestinian families and expect that nobody opposes them".

This is a joke right?
When it is not funny, "satire" would at least tell the reader that it is supposed to be a joke.
