Name one conservative who argued against giving her an up or down vote. What was suggested, and apparently followed, was that Miers spare herself the confirmation hearings. Not because she wasn't ENTITLED to an up-or-down vote, but because it was suspected that such a vote wasn't in HER interest.
You are correct! I saw a lot of Freepers with huge doubts that were willing to have an up or down vote. I think her pulling her nomination was in the best interest of the President and Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee and I respect her for doing just that.
Anyone who called for the President to withdraw the nomination prior to hearings IMHO was against an up or down vote. Do you really want me to type the names?
You want me to believe that all of those calling for her name to be withdrawn were concerned with HER best interests. Yeah right. The Brooklyn Bridge is for sale, interested?
I don't know if any conservative said she wasn't entitled to an up or down vote, but conservatives were running ads against her BEFORE they even had hearings. Again, I was not a big supporter of this nomination, but these ads being run crossed the line, imo. They made sure it wasn't in her interest to continue.
