Bush will not take out any ire with a new nominee. He knows he doesn't need the aggravation. But, I don't suspect he'll do much to advance them.
No, I think Bush will wait and pick another area of policy in which to differentiate himself from the fringers.
Bush is not going to allow himself to be a captive to any particular part of the GOP.
Reagan didn't do it, and Bush won't either.
Kristol is ambitious and would undermine the president if it would get him more facetime on FNC or a top position in a McCain administration. It's not that he doesn't have principles and an ideology -- he does -- but he cares a great deal more about his own professional success.
Why on earth are you trolling a Miers thread trying to start a religious argument? You're not going to convince theists that there is no God, and they aren't going to convince you that He exists. The people on the sidelines will do what they will; no one will become an atheist to impress you.
Please go find a relevant thread to show how much smarter you are than everyone else.
lol he/she gets smacked around more than any other poster
One is too many.
Agreed, but tell that to the president. He is the one who created a wedge issue against his own party. This is not the first time either.
"I, for one, supported Miers because I am an intellectual elitist. Although she did receive a law degree -- a negative indicator of intelligence -- her undergrad degree was in mathematics. This makes her the smartest person ever nominated to the court."
Guess she figured that the numbers were against her...thats IS smart
I agree that the intent of the Constitution is not being followed, and that the Senate is dysfunctional.
As for my wisdom, well, after being told this and similar a few times ...
If not, go away and stop bothering the adults.... well, I'm just a human too.
Have a good wallow in your own superiority to every thinking person out there.
[You are] someone [who] cannot win through a reasoned argument
You are still JUST thrashing around rather then admit your emotional based position is just so much nonsense.
When the absurdity of your position was pointed out to you, you immediately started whining "you are all just attacking me". No what we are doing is pointing out repeatedly the intellectual vacuity of your arguments. Unfortunately you seem complete unwilling to considering anyone else position but your own. Simply putting your hands over you ears and screaming your opinions over and over and over will NOT help you make the case. You have to actually address the points made to you NOT just keep screaming your opinion over and over and over. Too bad for you that YOU do NOT get to dictate to everyone else what to think. Sorry you find it so difficult to accept reality that your argument is irrelevant.
Thanks for showing your true colors, DUmmy.
I am the one and only AmishDude.
Ugh...I tried to stay away from the sexist label with that guy but it was impossible.
Retired Senators are not the elite (i.e. "non-people")? This is getting wacky...
Anyway, if you interviewed most of the "people" today, they would say that its the Supreme Court's job to decide policy questions such as abortion. Sad, but true. This is why we need somebody who can intelligently articulate the opposite position.
"And he'll fracture the party even more if, God forbid, he picks Janice Brown."
How do you figure?
Ok.
I guess you have to get to the schoolwork.
It's not clear how someone how an origialist or a textualist could be considered a moderate.
The terms moderate, liberal and conservative have no meaning in the judicial arena. They only apply if the person violates their obligations and bases rulings on political ideology rather than the actual law.
We have a legislative branch to write the laws and we have method to amend the constitution, why blur the lines and put the judicial branch into legislative business?
Enough to bring down the president, the Republican Party, and the SC Court?
I'm sorry I just don't see it.
I'll ping you whenever anyone says anything similar about Ted Kennedy, Hilliary Clinton or any other leftist.
