These games are much more boring than they should be. We're seeing some fine baseball. But ratings are low, and frankly, I'm having trouble staying awake again tonight. I was trying to think why I don't have that old feeling I used to have, even though my team is playing.

It's just my humble opinion, but I feel the lack of real down and dirty announcers like the Harry Carays and Jack Brickhouses of yore. They could make even the most crummy games exciting.

These two guys announcing for this series are informed, have every fact under the sun at their fingertips, but they lack the passion. I really wish they WOULDN'T be so neutral so we could at least get involved loving or hating 'em. I wish they used some dese, dems and dos. I wished they didn't have made-for-announcing voices. I wished they'd burp at least once.

I wish they didn't sound like they made IBM commercials on the side.

Even Lyle Lovett just sounded like Digger O'Dell.

I am SO with you, Leni! Great post. Whenever Joe Buck and Tim McCarver call Red Sox or Yankees games, we mute 'em and listen to the WEEI or WCBS radio broadcasters. Plenty of passion to be found there...

I had the privilege of seeing/hearing Harry Caray sing "Take me out to the ballgame" at a Cubs game at Wrigley back in the early 90s. They just don't make 'em like that anymore it seems...
