Plamegate: Bad For McCain (Vanity)

Posted on 10/26/2005 3:51:29 PM PDT by faithincowboys

John McCain, a Neocon's Neocon, will be dead for '08 if Plamegate detonates in the way the Left hopes. Plamegate is a twofer-- it's designed to politically castrate/impeach Bush and to thin the GOP field for Hillary in '08.

McCain's closeness with Chalabi-- there is footage-- will be the focus of the Clinton War Room.

McCain is no winner in '08. The GOP base will have to be passionate for whoever the candidate is-- despite McCain's fiscal thrift, he can never make the base love or trust him.

His Chalabi connection kills him with independents and mods assuming Iraq continues to be a political albatross.

McCain, though he won't be indicted, has much to lose from Plamegate.

"McCain was very out front on Iraq."

And so was Sen. Clinton.

Two dozen anti-war protesters camped outside the Los Angeles mansion...hoping to catch Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton as she entertained donors over soba noodles and chilled fish.

Dick Morris...thinks Iraq may be Clinton's biggest hurdle if she runs in 2008..."Her right foot is nailed to the floor in having to defend the Iraq war."...The war could pose problems, especially if her husband's former vice president, Al Gore, who opposed intervention from the start, jumps into the presidential race.

Anti-war groups have responded by increasingly targeting her office and campaign events. Cindy Sheehan, the bereaved mother who picketed George Bush's Texas ranch this summer, has taken on the senator with similar alacrity...Carolyn Eisenberg, a Brooklyn-based peace activist and Hofstra University professor, said anti-war groups are preparing to stage actions at Clinton events in New York during her upcoming Senate re-election campaign.

"Since Hillary and I met, at least 75 soldiers have been killed," Sheehan added. "I don't know her secret heart of hearts when it comes to Iraq. But I think she's playing politics."

Don't think for a minute that the Left won't rally around their girl. She'll walk out of the primary just like Kerry did-- I'm sure they'll be chump challengers like kucinich in her way. In the General, she's gonna be tough. The only thing that keeps them out are the people who still hate Bill. In '08 I assure you Chalabi will be more salient with the voters than Billy Dale or Vince Foster will.

Yeah, you kinda can. How many people really know about the missiles to China. For worse, the Clintons and the MSM have effectively portrayed the Clinton years as competency, a high dow, and a measly little blow job.

....he wants to cut pork and he is very pro-Israel

His only two strong points. But his pro-tax, pro-open borders, anti-gun positions will kill him with the GOP base. Personally I don't think he has a chance in hell, Plamegate or no Plamegate.

It doesnt take much to indict, we found that out with Tom Delay, Getting a conviction is another thing entirely, he could come out looking like a fool.

This whole thing has been a big waste of time and money and a liberal farce from scratch.

"Unlike Giuliani, McCain won't have the base solid on his side. This is merely me saying, "For those looking to a post-Bush world, McCain isn't the guy."

What the hell makes you think ANYONE would vote for that dumbass Rudy either??

Both of those rino dingdongs are pro-abortion, pro-queer marriage, and anti-gun!
Sell that crap on DU.

Personally, I'm for George Allen or Mitt Romney, but I don't know if they have the juice to win.

McCain's a non-starter, and it has nothing to do with Iraq or Chalabi (unknown in the US, even further off the map in Iraq). It's because Conservatives have a long memory. McCain will never be the Republican nominee for one simple reason.
"On February 28 (2000) in Virginia, the home state of Moral Majority founder Jerry Falwell and Christian Coalition founder Pat Robertson, McCain launched a vicious attack on these "self-appointed leaders" of the Christian right. McCain called them "agents of intolerance" and described the two men as the right-wing equivalent to Louis Farrakhan and Al Sharpton."

"The next day McCain suffered major losses in Republican presidential contests in the states of Washington, Virginia and North Dakota. Exit polling showed that conservative Christians played a major role in McCain's defeat. Less than two weeks later he suspended his campaign."

McCain knows it, Bush knew it, Allen knows it, Giuliani knows it -- McCain will never be the nominee because he let his sockpuppet Mike Murphy (who is currently in the process of running Mitt Romney's sad sack presidential campaign into the ground before it even gets started) take a big swing at the gut of the GOP in 2000, and the GOP responded by decking both of them.

Please... I think the only one Hillary fears is Mitt. He's good looking and optimistic. They have been trying to pin Mitt down on things for a long time.

It was Watergate -- not saying this is Watergate, but that doesn't imapct the coverage (hell, watergate wasn't watergate-- that got Carter elected.

Hillary will run on competency and argue implicitly that Bill lied about personal stuff "not nat'l security."

Let's assume you're right in that some people may think this is similar to Watergate, which it is not, but let's go with worse case scenario. Do you really think that the public, if taken through another Watergate or (CLINTON) impeachment process, would elect the wife of an impeached president?

Impeaching this president is absolutely the worse thing that could happen to Hillary as far as her presidential ambitions may be.
