WASHINGTONThe federal prosecutor investigating the alleged involvement of White House officials in the leak of a CIA operative's identity spent most of the lunch hour today meeting with the chief judge of the federal district court in the nation's capital, Judge Thomas Hogan.
As reporters massed outside an elevator lobby leading to the grand jury rooms, the special prosecutor, Patrick Fitzgerald, apparently slipped out a back exit to conduct the noontime meeting with Judge Hogan.
Mr. Fitzgerald declined to comment as he and a colleague emerged from the judge's chambers just before 1 p.m.
The prosecutor's visit to the chief judge could signal that Mr. Fitzgerald is seeking to extend the term of the grand jury that has been investigating the leak. Judge Hogan would need to approve any extension to the grand jury's term, which was set to expire on Friday....

"The prosecutor's visit to the chief judge could signal"
It could signal that FitzGerald and the judge are conspiring together to screw the White House... Sneaking out a back door at lunch to talk to the judge, why hasn't there been a mistrial already, that's what I want to know.
Typical MSM bullsqueeze; when they have no FACTS to report, they blather out their innermost dreams as "news".
Eff 'em.
Agreed. If they haven't found anything in two years...there's nothing to find.
Yeah. But after reading that he is still interviewing neighbors of Plame (something he should have done right off the bat), Fitzgerald doesn't look like he's got his act together.
Would she have had a CIA parking sticker on her car?
Do you think Fritz may be changing his focus toward the role of J. Wilson, Plame, and CIA?
She is exceedingly well-connected.
As they showed in '74 when they almost ran the GOP out of DC, they don't need a plan only a target that has lost public sympathy. Nixon lost that for the GOP in Watergate and all things Republican were anathema. The hatred for Bush makes the feelings against Nixon appear to be a minor disagreement. You convict Rove or Libby or both and you will see a replay of '74's elections whether the Dems have a plan or not. As for being the party of rapists etc., if the final legal judgement is 'not guilty' the truth of the matter means little. If the final verdict for Rove et. al. is 'guilty', the court of public opinion won't care about the truth.
Nope. It was a bumpersticker that read : "My Other Car Is A Hummer."
Wilson and Plame both told prosecutors that no one knew of her position at the CIA. Turns out the everyone knew.
Wilson Party; Perjury for two.
Perjury is all there is IMHO. Unless somebody misplaced a letter explicitly ordering the outing of Plame, I can't see how there could be any evidence of a conspiracy. Scooter will be hung out to dry for lying, but then the matter will close.
We can't afford to have key people on the White House staff under a cloud for several more months or years. If there are indictments, they should come out now, and deal with them. An extended investigation does not serve the public in any way.
I know no more than you. But I'm full of speculation.
Exactly.
Add this to the last minute interviews of the neighbors and I'd say we're near, if not at, the bottom of the barrel.
It does show how week it is. Its like students getting an 11th hour extension on a paper that is due from their teacher.
Speaking as a non layer.....maybe Fitz was letting the judge know there would be indictments or that he wants them sealed or something like that???like I said i`m a non lawyer.
Indications are that the investigation is going into the CIA. If the investigation is leading into the CIA, it will take more time to clean house. That will just add to one more accomplishment of the Bush Administration.
Will Andrea Mitchell be let go now as her husband is resigning?
I knew it!!!
