WASHINGTON - The federal grand jury investigating the leak of a CIA officer's identity met for three hours Wednesday with Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald and adjourned for the day without announcing any action.

Fitzgerald is known to be putting the finishing touches on a two-year criminal probe that has ensnared two senior White House aides.

After the grand jury left for the day, federal prosecutors conferred for about an hour in the grand jury area of the federal courthouse.

There was no word on whether Fitzgerald planned to make any announcement or whether the grand jury planned to meet again.

Most of the news outlets when they were not almost in glee over the 2000th soldier being killed

I believe I heard on Tony Snow's show this morning.. Kennedy refer to it as an 'auspicious occasion'...isn't auspicious defined as: favorable, opportune? I about flew around the room and crashed landed over that one. Grrrrrrr.

How 'bout "Fibber Magee & Molly?" Or "The Jack Benny Show?" Ever listen to "The Arthur Godfrey Show?"

>>David Tillotson. "Did we know anything about her position before the story broke? Absolutely not."<<

This is absoulute proof of a false statements violation. If he told an FBI agent this, he committed a felony, since this is absolutely false.

Even if it were true, that isn't the standard for a law violation. Besides, if they are truly investigating the underlying crime, that tells me they have no evidence on lying and obstruction of justice.

"Although I noticed the article portrays Libby and Rove as having been "ensnared."

And excludes mentioning anyone else. We have the news media of France.

"everyone did that MSM news broadcasts would only be about 30 seconds long."

So, what's the downside?

They may simply be determining whether to seek indictments for the "underlying crime" in addition to perjury, etc. I think the bottom line is that everyone's speculating, and no one has a clue what the GJ is likely to do.

Actually... I don't give a chit about this leak story!!!

Thirty years ago it was all about the "plumbers" and Nixon... Now-a-days the danged leaks are still leaking and the plumbers still cain't find 'em and at least Dubya hasn't signed an "Endangered Species Act," or the "Clean Air/Water laws like Nixon, or the second installment in greater extremes like his daddy, so things have improve a little!

Maybe Dubya calls Dick "Chemosabe," and wears a mask and shoots silver bulletins!!!

So many theories about this case will have to be shoved down the memory hole immediately after Fitzgerald speaks, I don't see how they all can fit.

When the left started to lie about Bush, they are forced to make up new lies to bolster their initial miscalculation, and it's costing them politically.

Most of the news outlets when they were not almost in glee over the 2000th soldier being killed stated that indictments would be handed down today.

The spin I caught being used last night was that 2000 was, "more soldier's deaths than all of the first four years of Vietnam," which immediately struck me as a Dem talking point.

There's a great deal of debate when Vietnam actually began. Many would put it as the Gulf of Tonkin but others would go as far back as the late 1940's and still others at places in between.

I've been trying to find pre annum KIA stats for Vietnam but haven't had much luck.

Why would they wait until the week the GJ expires to start investigating the underlying crime?

It sounds like they're fact checking to be sure the action they're about to take is appropriate. Whether said action involves indictments, no indictments, some indictments, etc. is anyone's guess.

Our real military actions in Vietnam started in 1965 and not in 1961 where we had mostly advisers and no actual combat from 1961-1965. Now from 1965 to 1968 we lost over 30000 troops. In one February week in 1967 we lost 542 troops.

aus·pi·cious (adj.) 1. Attended by favorable circumstances; propitious: an auspicious time to ask for a raise in salary. See Synonyms at favorable. 2. Marked by success; prosperous.

Ol' Teddy's brain is pickled and/or he mean INauspicious instead. This is the same man who wanted to congratulate the home run king "Mike [sic] Maguire and Sammy Sooser" and who can ignore this gem when he goofed on Senator Obama's name: "Why don't we just ask Osama Bin Laden, er Osama Obama...OBAMA! Since he won by such a big amount!"
