It all gets back to local and state governments NOT BEING PREPARED. Maybe someday the people with DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY from the people that readily demand their tax dollars.
What did they expect? ....living in Florida after all?...
Katrina trained malcontents.
These people had days to prepare; heck after the last hurricane season especially, every resident of Florida should own a generator and keep emergency water and food supplies on hand at all times. What is it about these people that they don't understand "being prepared" ?
I live in the country and am subject to frequent power outages in times of bad weather. I own a generator and keep emergency supplies on hand. I don't stand in line for relief and whine when I have to take care of myself and my family !
It gets back to individuals not being prepared. Anyone who can catch gray water (rain) can flush a toilet. Anyone with an ounce of sense these days has a supply of bottled water and canned food on hand. Anyone who doesn't absolutely need to fill the gas tank to drive...should not.
It's ... KITTY LOOTIE!
And how many MILLION people need help? The MSM is just rabble rousing to try to make Bush (both of them) look bad. They are just feeding the malcontents. We're too much an instant gratification society.

Actually it all gets back to people not being prepared. They are complaining they don't have the supplies they were told a week ago to go get.
Were these the dummies living in mobile homes at the water's edge? Mobile homes should be outlawed in hurricane-susceptible places.
"Wahh Wahh! The government isn't helping us! Wah Wahh"
Wow. I'd like to know how they did that.
That's what I thought. As a former Floridian, we knew we may be without water and power for at least several days after a hurricane and prepared accordingly. Our society has now become so dependent on government that people cannot survive a few days on their own after a hurricane hits. If people followed the advice by officials, they should be okay. I am really tired of listening to them whine.
Everyone supposed to have three days supplies. Bush does a great job, but he doesn't have a magic wand...
I can understand being in these lines if someone's home is completely destroyed, but I'm guessing that at least some of those waiting in line had the opportunity to lay in food and water prior to the hurricane season. Before winter, we have gallons of old soda bottles filled with water for the toilet, bottles of water for drinking, cans of food, our gas bottles for the grill filled, and so on. It's difficult to imagine people who simply wait for the state to care for them after a storm.
Hey, the cats are no dummies.
"Hmmm ... I can either swim through miles of brackish water ... or I can let this guy carry me in a dry plastic box. Hmmm ..."
Looks like he's been herding cats.
I've heard a lot about that, but never seen photographic proof it happens.
Well, said. We are in the same situation and we are also prepared. We could easily go a week without going to the store. (That reminds me that I need to fill up my gas cans. Thanks.) I just can't believe that anyone who lives in FL doesn't already have a generator and plywood ready and doesn't stock up before hurricane season hits. Bottled water can be drunk later if you find out you didn't need it and it's not such a huge outlay. Same with food.
I am sorry...I don't have a lot of sympathy for people who whine about waiting in line for hours for ice....get in line behind the Katrina victims or better yet...Ivan victims! Some people are still waiting for help from the hurricanes that hit last year and these people are whining because they waited in line for ice!!!
