A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

OUTRAGEOUS!!!
A thread about the color green? Why not. (besides I wanted to use my new lily pad backgrounds.) Green.. Endless possibilities - the lucky green four leaf clover; malachite; broccoli; the Isle of Green - Ireland; Show me the Money Green; Green Mansions - a great movie from years past; jade; seaweed; and sKerry - green with envy - as he LOST!
Here are a few green thoughts & Links. Do you have a green story? Green nightmare? Green underwear?
Green Links
Bowling Green State University
Musician Al Green
Simple Green Cleaner
The Green Mile(1999 movie)
The Green Party
Green giant
Green Mansions Movie
Bowling Green Kentucky
Green Acres TV show
Little Green Footballs Blog
Salad Greens
Green Bay Packers
It's not that easy bein' green Having to spend each day the color of the leaves When I think it could be nicer being red or yellow or gold Or something much more colorful like that
It's not easy bein' green It seems you blend in with so many other ordinary things And people tend to pass you over 'cause you're Not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water Or stars in the sky
But green's the color of Spring And green can be cool and friendly-like And green can be big like an ocean Or important like a mountain Or tall like a tree
When green is all there is to be It could make you wonder why But why wonder, why wonder? I am green and it'll do fine It's beautiful! And I think it's what I want to be

Little Green Apples Roger Miller
.....And if that's not loving me, then all i've got to say, God didn't make the little green apples, and it don't rain in indianapolis in the summer time. And there's no such thing as dr. seuss or disney land and mother goose, no nursery rhymes.
God didn't make the little green apples, and it don't rain in indianapolis in the summer time. And when myself is feeling low, i think about her face and go and ease my mind......

What a beautiful table..Little green apples. forgot about that one as well as Mr. Green Jeans.. and the wonderful green framing???
:-)
I like it in this way =I dont think I will use it to put type on again.. heading are okay & background for easier to read large small amount of type.. but will layer it with other multi tables inside so that the green shows. I like it but hard to read, that is why the type is so large & bold often.
Server Mission accomplished. It showed on server that all except the 3 were reduced size. Didn't know I could do that!

unless you have naturally green skin, these laws should apply to you & yours:
@@@
These are the laws of the natural universe:
Law of Mechanical Repair: After your hands become coated with grease, your nose will begin to itch.
Law of the Workshop: Any tool, when dropped, will roll to the least accessible corner.
Law of the Telephone: When you dial a wrong number, you never get a busy signal.
Law of the Alibi: If you tell the boss you were late for work because you had a flat tire, the very next morning you will have a flat tire.
Variation Law: If you change lines or traffic lanes, the one you were in will start to move faster than the one you are in now.
Bath Theorem: When the body is fully immersed in water, the telephone rings.
Law of Lines: When you walk IN the grocery store, there's never anyone in the checkout line.
Inverse Hair Dryer Law: You're sure you hear the phone ringing in the background, until you turn the hair dryer off.
Law of Close Encounters: The probability of meeting someone you know increases when you are with someone you don't want to be seen with.
Law of the Result: When you try to prove to someone that a machine won't work, it will.
Law of Bio mechanics: The severity of the itch is inversely proportional to the reach.
Theater Law: At any event, the people whose seats are farthest from the aisle arrive last.
Law of Coffee: As soon as you sit down to a cup of hot coffee, your boss will ask you to do something which will last until the coffee is cold.
Murphy's Law of Lockers: If there are only two people in a locker room, they will have adjacent lockers.
Law of Natural Attraction: If you and your date are the only two on a five-mile stretch of beach, the family of five will set up right next to you.
Law of Dirty Rugs/Carpets: The chances of an open-faced jelly sandwich landing face down on a floor covering are directly correlated to the newness and cost of the carpet/rug.
Law of Location: No matter where you go, there you are.
Law of Logical Argument: Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about.
Dolly's Law: A closed mouth gathers no feet.
Law of the Last Word: "Hey, watch this!"

Hi again dolly, billie, feiny all.... Wow...all sorts of green trivia...brings back so many memories. Sigh...Lorne Green and Bonanza...my FAVORITE show growing up (I had a crush on Pernell Roberts!)
Cold is better today, atleast compared to yesterday although dad is feeling bad. Weak and woozie. Today's caregiver thinks it is just the beginnings of a cold but I came home early so as not to leave him alone. Also, gives me a chance to work up something for tomorrow. "Pulling a Dolly" NOT SURE WHAT I'M GOING TO DO! LOL! (my goal...NO REPEAT!) ((((((sistahs and finest friends))))))

I remembered that Judas Priest sang GREEN MANALISHI & I looked up the lyrics....and found out that Fleetwood Mac also sang the song.
To top it all off, the song was written by Peter GREEN!!!
The Green Manalishi
Now when the day goes to sleep and the full moon looks
And the night is so black that the darkness cooks
And you come creeping around, making me do things I don't want to do
Can't believe that she needs my love so bad
Come sneaking around, trying to drive me mad
Busting in all my dreams, making me see things I don't want to see
'Cause you're the Green Manalishi with the two-pronged crown
All night dragging us up, or you're bringing us down
Just taking my love, and slip away
Leaving me here, trying to keep from following you

Green, eh?I'm kinda partial towards red, white and blue myself, but looks like you've got a fun thread again.
Had a friend who worked on one of those Jolly Green Giant farms a long time ago.

compressed it to 72.. lotsa pix.. did check!!!! Okay, top one is yours, bottom one is mine. Yours is 107 KB, mine is 49 KB. Clearly, you can still compress it much more and it's still a good picture. It just takes less time to open, and less space on your server.
My question is "Where did you *compress* it to 72?" I can't find something that lets you do just that.
In Picture It, when I "save as" the pic in the jpeg form, it opens the folder where it's going to save the jpeg, and in that screen it has an *option* button to click on. I clicked on that Option, and there is a slider there. I set the slider at 50. There's a world of difference in the size of the file in bytes but not in the clarity. Are you setting the slider when you save it at 72? I don't think that's necessarily the number of pixels per inch, but could sure be wrong. :)

I am glad to hear that you're feeling better today, but hate to hear your dad's *not*. :(
Maybe BOTH of you have a Hot Toddy tonight before you go to bed - but not if you're taking medicine. :)
