An uber-insider source has just reported the following to TWN:
1. 1-5 indictments are being issued. The source feels that it will be towards the higher end.
2. The targets of indictment have already received their letters.
3. The indictments will be sealed indictments and "filed" tomorrow.
4. A press conference is being scheduled for Thursday.
The shoe is dropping.
More soon.

WASHINGTON -- Prosecutors investigating the leak of a CIA agent's identity returned their attention to White House adviser Karl Rove on Tuesday, questioning a former West Wing colleague about contacts Rove had with reporters in the days leading to the outing of a covert CIA officer.
Special Prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald also dispatched FBI agents this week to comb the CIA officer's residential neighborhood in Washington, asking neighbors again whether they were aware -- before her name appeared in a syndicated column -- that the agent, Valerie Plame, worked for the CIA.

The questioning, described by lawyers familiar with the case and by the neighbors, occurred as Fitzgerald was thought to be readying indictments in the long-running inquiry into the leak of Plame's identity.

"It appeared to me the prosecutor was trying to button up any holes that were remaining," a lawyer familiar with the case said. The lawyer asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the ongoing inquiry.
Specifically, investigators asked about Rove's July 2003 conversations with Time Magazine reporter Matthew Cooper, the lawyer said.
Cooper had contacted Rove and asked about Wilson, who angered the White House in mid-2003 when he publicly accused the administration of "twisting" intelligence information to justify going to war in Iraq.

Cooper has told investigators that he called Rove to ask about Wilson's claims. Cooper, in an account of his testimony, later wrote that Rove had warned him, "Don't get too far out on Wilson." Rove also had told Cooper that the ambassador's wife worked at the CIA on weapons of mass destruction, though he did not mention her name.
Spokesmen for Fitzgerald and Rove declined Tuesday to comment.

The flurry of last-minute questioning struck some observers as a way for the prosecutor to test arguments that defense lawyers in the case may have raised in the waning hours of the investigation to fend off charges.

they told the FBI agents that they had no idea of her agency life, and that they knew her only as a mother of twins who worked as an energy consultant.
Some people familiar with national-security investigations said they found this week's questioning to be curious at a time when Fitzgerald appears to be wrapping up his investigation. They said establishing her covert status should have been a priority at the outset of the case; if her employer were already well-known, the prosecutor would not have a case to bring under the agent-protection law.
But others said they suspected that Fitzgerald was just being meticulous, and that he previously had made a judgment about her status and was, in an abundance of caution, looking to further corroborate that belief. The questioning seemed "confirmatory," said one person who was interviewed but who declined to be identified. Some neighbors said they had been interviewed previously by the FBI.
"They basically asked me if I knew what she did prior to the leak," said Marc Lefkowitz, another neighbor. The answer, he said, was an unambiguous "no."
"I knew he was a former ambassador. We had dinner at their house," Lefkowitz said. "She was just a normal mother of twins."

Italian parliamentary officials announced that the head of Italy's military secret service, the SISMI intelligence agency, would be questioned next month about allegations that his agency gave the disputed documents to the United States and Britain, according to an Associated Press report. A spokeswoman said Nicolo Pollari, the agency director, asked to be questioned after reports this week in Italy's La Republica newspaper claiming that SISMI sent the CIA and U.S. and British officials information that it knew to be forged.
The newspaper reported that Pollari met at the White House on Sept. 9, 2002, with then-Deputy National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley. The Niger claims surfaced shortly thereafter. A spokesman for Hadley, now the national security adviser, confirmed that the meeting took place but declined to say what was discussed.
Hadley had played a prominent role in the controversy over Bush's claims in his State of the Union address -- taking responsibility for the insertion of the famous 16 words that laid out the allegations.
What's the source of post #247?
It's all HIS fault, don't ya know...
Also, the idea that defense laywers would be making their defense arguments to Fitz already sounds bizarre to me. Fitz already knows what their arguments will be, so why would they bother telling him their defense strategy? If the defense laywers did have an innovative strategy that Fitz wouldn't be aware of, I don't think they would make that argument to Fitz now because that gives him the opportunity to thwart their defense strategy in advance. Defense lawyers would want to play those cards close to the vest and drop them on the table at the last minute in a trial to avoid a conviction.
There is an extraordinary amount of real, exagerrated, or fabricated leak stories being released by the MSM ahead of these indictments (or non-indictment). I believe these leaks may be intended to 1) put pressure on Fitz to indict or else look like he caved into pressure from the Bushies, and 2) create the false impression that Bush's people actually broke the law so that this case still damages Bush and the GOP if Fitz doesn't indict anyone in the Bush Administration. This looks like a major DNC propaganda campaign, and I find it interesting that crazy Howard Dean said he "wouldn't accept the prosecutor's decision" if Fitz doesn't indict anyone in the Bush Admin. This is a very strange Clintonesque case. I liked Washington politics more before the Klintoons showed up in Washington.
I am getting as bored of this as I am of the Miers deal.
Don't give up quite yet!
The far fringe of tin foil kooks
has jumped on this one:

"Nancy wants to know what is happening to the Fitzgerald indictment, if the rumors about Friday, Oct 21, are true, what steps Gonzales and Bush took, etc. It is of course in the Bush plan to have Fitzgerald fired, but because of what happened to Nixon, and the comparisons drawn in the media, those around him ignore such orders as though he had sneezed, and did not issue orders. Fitzgerald is above such a move, and must be proven to be operating in error, which he is so obviously not doing, that there is no basis. Such a move would be seen by the public, by Congress, by the courts, by the federal agencies, as a desperate move by a guilty man. There are other options.
The first move was to try to convince Fitzgerald himself to only attack lesser parties. This failed. Assassination attempts failed too, as Fitzgerald is protected by angels. The second move was in the courts, an attempt to keep the indictments from proceeding, in Chicago. This succeeded at first, with the first judge, as is known, but overridden by judges above the first. The third attempt was to bomb the Chicago environs, with a fake terrorist attack, also in the rumor mills aplenty, which also failed due to human intervention, guided and assisted by angels. The fourth plan was to deal with the indictments, when delivered, in the court system. That Fizgerald is operating in DC for this shows the boldness of his plan, as he knows this will happen, will be quickly run into the Supreme Court, and fail. Indictments can only be quashed if they are inproperly brought, without evidence, by law, and this is not the case.
Fitzgerald did bring indictments to court on Friday, but the court did not quash them. This attempt was made, by the Justice Department, in that court, but the court refused to consider this as valid. It is the Justice Department, in some form or another, which must issue the indictments and follow through with them. Fitzgerald has other avenues than to go through Gonzales, and will pursue this independently, using marshals and the like, if action is not taken. At present, he is considering that Gonzales is in shock, as he seemed to be, at the scope of the indictments. He is assuming, correctly, that the White House and GOP are plotting their path, their plan, and will let the indictments go through when they have a plan.
What next? Letting the indictments register, diminishing them in the media and via distractions planned, and then the motion to dismiss, which they will run into the Supreme Court. What we know, and what the Bush administration is not counting on, is that many of these judges are aware of and horrified at the law breaking, the theft from Gore, [!?!] as well as the treasonous acts to get the nation into war with Iraq. Motion to dismiss will not fly. Meanwhile, the White House will be dealing with international scandal, refusal of other nations to treat them with respect, and calls from Congress for resignations and even talk of impeachment as the whole mess occurred under Bush.

What the hell is that?
Amazing, isn't it?
Don't you love the internet???
"Nancy" is a gal
who "channels" aliens that
want to save good folks
by letting us know
that Planet X Real Soon Now
will pass close to Earth
and cause a pole shift.
Aliens tell her Bush knows,
but won't tell people . . .
The really scary thing is it makes as much sense as some of the stuff I've seen posted on FR lately.
Well, Harriet Miers is piloting the mother ship, H. The Grey Lizards showed me the pictures.
And I defy you to prove me wrong.
