Top Bush Supporters Set to Launch Anti-Miers Ad Campaign

A 30-second TV ad is set to air tomorrow, Wednesday, that some believe may be as effective at helping stop the Harriett Miers confirmation as the Swift Boat ads were in helping stop John Kerry.

BetterJustice.org, a conservative grass-roots organization, created and funded the hard-hitting anti-Miers (but pro-Bush) ad. The organization's board of directors includes several otherwise staunch Republican stalwarts, such as David Frum and Linda Chavez.

"Miers is no more qualified to sit on the Supreme Court than I am to be a sumo wrestler!" So stated the so very un-sumo-like Ann Coulter.

Nobody on THIS forum is turning left.

Unless, of course, you assume that people who don't agree with you word for word ARE left leaners.

"Their attempt to destroy a human being is despicable."

Your rhetoric is getting very outlandish. They are of course not trying to destroy Ms. Miers, simply prevent a bad nomination. Why not be honest?

"say hello to Justice Alberto Gonzales."

Source? Or just trying to scare people?

Just how is it that Bush will be able to put up a "real" conservatives when people like McCain have already warned him that if he does, they will NOT support the nominee?

I disagree. David Frum would very much like to destroy Harriett Miers.

"The Constitution gives him the authority to make SC picks, not some howling mob."

So now principled opposition is equivalent to a howling mob. Nice.

Did I miss where you wrote "some conservative?"

Geesh your are being obtuse. If someone wrote "the american people elected George Bush", does that mean that every person in America voted for him?

There are reasons why those who are conservative have a problem with Bush. I can see why you want to avoid the question.

"David Frum has a personal animus against Miers, and he's going to do whatever it takes to humiliate her."

You are getting more and more ridiculous.

He may not pick a conservative that the conservatives want.

If Miers is rejected, then anyone worse would certainly be rejected to. If Bush wants to throw a temper tantrum then he would just spite himself.

The Lynch Mob has shown NO principles at all merely pouting, whining, vicious personal attacks and signs of dementia. There has not been ONE objection to Miers based upon principles only underhanded, empty headed whines that she is not "pretty" enough.

"Those who are conservative," meaning, once again I see, that those who DON'T have a problem with Bush aren't conservative.

And you all wonder why you meet such opposition.

I can see why you want to avoid the question.

If that is a smear at me, it's not a very good one.

Well you assume that people who don't agree with you are the lunatic fringe.

No. Screaming, calling Miers a "paper stapler," a "cleaning lady," endlessly posting her writings and snickering, calling her "a waste of a human being," and running ads against her on national cable television is what howling mobs do.

If you're not part of that, then you're not part of the mob.

You do realize, don't you, that the very same thing can be said about you, right?

"The intent will be to portray Miers as a dunce.

If there is justice, this will blow up in Frum's fat face."

Wow. It's wrong to tear people down right?

>>>"Their "principles" are: agree with me, or we'll go support Michael Peroutka or the Boohbahs."

Their "principles" are: agree with me, or we'll say they're elitists, against females, dividing the GOP, spoiling the next election, against 'compassionate conservativism', and nasty pounders-of-sand.

Hey! All we want are some constitutional qualifications in the Supreme Court pick. HINT: Sending cards with "Oh, you are so wonderful" is not a qualification.

Actually, I don't; I disagree with people around here all the time.

But I know a fringer when I see them, especially since most of the ones doing the carping are the Malcontents/Unappeasables from 1999 or the "newly" renamed and re-registered.

Hey, if you think Miers is a dunce, it's perfectly OK to point out that Frum does, in fact, have a fat face.
