I. Lewis Libby Jr., Vice President Dick Cheneys chief of staff, first learned about the C.I.A. officer at the heart of the leak investigation in a conversation with Mr. Cheney weeks before her identity became public in 2003, lawyers involved in the case said Monday.
Notes of the previously undisclosed conversation between Mr. Libby and Mr. Cheney on June 12, 2003, appear to differ from Mr. Libbys testimony to a federal grand jury that he initially learned about the C.I.A. officer, Valerie Wilson, from journalists, the lawyers said.
The notes, taken by Mr. Libby during the conversation, for the first time place Mr. Cheney in the middle of an effort by the White House to learn about Ms. Wilsons husband, Joseph C. Wilson IV, who was questioning the administrations handling of intelligence about Iraqs nuclear program to justify the war.
Lawyers said the notes show that Mr. Cheney knew that Ms. Wilson worked at the C.I.A. more than a month before her identity was made public and her undercover status was disclosed in a syndicated column by Robert D. Novak on July 14, 2003.

Here is my bet.... Joe Wilson LIED to Fitzpatrick, just like he did to the Senate, The CIA, and in his Op Ed in the NYT's, and Joe Wilson will be brought up on charges, (along with his wife) for Conspiracy to undermine the Foreign policy of the United States of America.... Maybe not Treason, but at least Conspiracy!!!
That is my prediction... You heard it here first :-)

She put her life on the line for her country, to work on issues of weapons of mass destruction, and her government repaid her by outing her for purely political reasons. She was outed in 1995

I am sure the Pres believes he is fair and honest, besides the Pres would not get involved with this stuff, he has two wars going on.
Any Pros worth his salt wants good press, its natural career enhancement, and he obviously believes he is saving the world from the evil Bush regime!
And that means good press till he is dead, and beyond.
It sure beats being a Christian Pervert like Ken Starr.

Tomorrow will be hell. The democrats will be all over television excoriating Cheney....and Bush of course, and there will be no Republicans "out there", excoriating them for intentionally misstating the meaning of this article.

prosecutor has been lauded as a "fair and honest" man by the president, etc. Simply amazing how so many "Conservatives" always buy the media hype and spin. After getting burned dozens and dozens of times, I would expect some Freepers to finally wise up to the utter untrustworthiness of any Media speculation.

Stranger who stopped Novak in the street Said Stranger is an acquaintence of Wilson's, who purportedly discovered Novak's knowledge several days in advance of publication of his July 14th column and then advised Wilson of same.
Why he is identified in this fashion is puzzling.

I understand that Wilson lied when he used the docs as part of his reason for saying there was no attempt to buy uranium.
I'm trying to determine exactly 'what' led the govt. to think there was an attempt by Iraq to buy in the first place. If the docs didn't reach US hands till 8 months after Wilson's trip, I'm wondering what prompted sending him to 'investigate'. Is it certain the docs did not reach the US till Oct '02? Could they have been here but 'classified' prior to Oct. '02?

I still believe many of these are manufactured stories designed to allow the Dems to say Fitz pulled his punches when no indictment's come down. I further believe the purpose of the website is to get enough information out in the public domain to refute these charges. Fitzgerald has a reputation I believe he wants to maintain.
Wilson has been out running his mouth again. Apologists are out saying he didn't lie. Wilson and his mouthpieces are acting like ole Joe has something to hide.

Libby had already released Miller from any confidentiality months earlier, before she went to jail. Her insistance on having a "clarification" was mystifying to both Libby's attorneys and to me.
Why wasn't Libby's release good enough the first time around? Except if there was suddenly a need to draw attention back to Libby.
