Hey, they're finally asking us the questions we've been asking them for the last decade. Well, it's a start.

Pls. give directions to those asking...that is beyond my ken.

As for the overwhelming answer to this: "Should English be the official language of this country, used exclusively on voting ballots and government forms?"

I don't think it will pass Constitutional muster. It's one thing to say the language of this country is English. It's another to say that, if you are a legal citizen, but cannot read your ballot, you in effect cannot vote. My grandparents were legal, yet poor-spoken, and this would have hurt them (and we must consider what my grandparents always did, since they couldn't read the ballot: Where's da D? They voted straight DEM!).

7. Do you believe the government should deputize volunteer 'Minuteman' forces to augment the Border Patrol along the U.S. border?

Yes: 73% No: 16% Unsure: 11%

This is one I would have voted NO on. The primary purpose of the Minutemen is not to guard the borders. It is to embarass the Border Patrol and their bosses into doing their job and showing them how easily it can be done if we want to. If the Minutemen are deputized, then they are under the control of the Border Patrol and will be ordered not to go where it would humiliate the government. Then we would need another new group to shame the Border Patrol + co-opted minutment into doing their job.

These responses just show how many racist, xenophobic, bigots there are in the GOP - the same crowd who are also sexist, elitist, "Moveon.org Conservatives."

In our country today, illegal immigrants enjoy more rights and privileges than ordinary citizens thanks to Democrats and Leftists.

I quoted it once, I'll quote it again:

"Warning: Trespassers will be given good jobs, the right vote, social benefits and the privilege of driving. Enter at your own risk." Sign at the US border.

It needs this question: Do you agree that all babies born in the U.S. to illegal alien parents should automatically be citizens of the U.S.? Yes No Unsure

I received the link within an email.

I had to go into the formatting of the email, but found this: http://www.gopsenators.com/survey/immigration.aspx

In answer to your language point, I don't think that anyone wants to impose a hardship on your folks (or anyone else), but multiculturalism is insanity, and this country's efforts to embrace it has gone a long way towards destroying it.

I would bet that your grandparents didn't have the dubious "benefit" of these sorts of panderings, and I would further that they got by OK (I bet they were resourceful people!)

I think it could pass the constitutional test, but I do not have confidence that there are enough souls with the necessary cajones to make it happen.

Interesting. 1 and 9 are basically the same thing, just asked differently, and get markedly different results.

Or more accurately, 1 mentions a "program" (conditional amnesty) while 9 mentions a specific implementation of such a program (allow them to stay for a while, but then send them home but let them apply again, maybe with priority).

But you already don't have a right to a ballot in your native toungue. We don't print ballots in hundreds of languages, usually just the ones that are likely to be spoken by large parts of the population.

BTW, it never seems to be republicans that can't speak english.

What happened to the question: Do you think the US Gov't ought to place fences along the southern border between our states and Mexico?

Why don't they ask what you think of them spending money to support Lincoln Chafee and to defeat his Republican primary challenger?
