Giuliani Tops List of U.S. Presidential Hopefuls

Many adults in the United States believe Republican Rudy Giuliani should launch a White House bid, according to a poll by the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion. 54 per cent of respondents would like the former New York City major to run for president in 2008.

Republican Arizona senator John McCain is second on the list of prospective candidates with 52 per cent, followed by Democratic New York senator Hillary Rodham Clinton with 48 per cent, and former North Carolina senator and 2004 Democratic vice-presidential nominee John Edwards with 47 per cent.

Less than 40 per cent of respondents support bids by Massachusetts senator and 2004 Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry, and U.S. state secretary Condoleezza Rice.

Giuliani garnered national and international attention in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The former New York City mayor currently heads Giuliani Partners, LLC—a consulting firm.

In an Oct. 5 speech to business leaders, Giuliani opened the door for a possible White House bid, saying, "I think I’ll return to politics."

I personally do not know one person, democrat or republican, that wants to see Roe overturned.

I know hundreds and hundreds of Democrats who want Roe overturned. And with the exception of a few mentally ill people, all Republicans want it overturned.

I have to be honest ... as far as I know she is. So are all the others. I don't like that aspect of her ... maybe she's changed her mind. On other issues she's fine. I wish I could say otherwise since I am anti-choice.

No Republican has the balls to propose a constitutional amendment to ban abortions.

Until a Pubbie does, then it's illogical to not support a center-right GOP candidate in 2008.

No, I'm not talking about a "moderate" or the usual squishy Pubbie with cooked linguini that doubles as the spinal cord. Guiliani will continue the fight against terrorist scum. With pressure from the base, he'll curb spending and at least keep his views on abortion quiet and just remark that it should go back to the states (as it should).

But keep wrapping yourself up in myopic reasoning and feel good as Queen Hillary is announced President-elect.

All I'm saying is that character counts. If a man or a woman will betray what is supposed to be their most sacred vow to the people they are supposed to love the most, how hard will it be to betray your own country. I don't believe that FDR or Eisenhower were great presidents though I know there are those here who will argue with that.

We need a person (man or woman) of impeccable moral character to lead this nation. Guilliani hasn't got it.

LOL I looked back at my post and I realized I didn't put a sarcasm tag on. I personally think we need someone real tough like Giuliani. Actually Guiliani is drawing huge sold out crowds in South Carolina and all the southern states. I don't see any people avoiding him like he has the plague like they do here on Free Republic. All I know is if we put in a mealy mouthed Republican Senator to run we are in for a big loss in 2008.

Sorry, but ANY government control or definition of news is censorship and will lead to their control of the all news.
The only one that should control the news I read, watch or listen to is me. Not some Government official. This eliminates Pence from any consideration for my vote.

I like Guiliani too. That's primarily because I lived in Manhattan during Lindsay, Beame, Koch, Dinkie and Guiliani. I saw how a city could go from bad to worse to wonderful. Unfortunately, under Bloomberg, I see it heading down the tubes again (homeless, drug addicts, panhandlers - can squeegees be far behind?) But no decent person is allowed to smoke!

Of course, I still think NYC is the greatest city on earth.
