Where were the buses?

No image of the post-Katrina calamity is stronger than the tens of thousands of urban storm survivors awaiting rescue for days.

Stranded residents at the Superdome, Convention Center, a Metairie interstate intersection and a Chalmette port grew restless and combative as temperatures soared, people died around them and getting basic necessities -- food and water -- became a daily battle.

Gov. Kathleen Blanco refused to release documents requested from her office, citing a state law that shields her office from disclosure.

No MSM screams heard.

You can boil all this down to: The Democratic "Leadership", Blanco and Nagin, had no idea what they were supposed to be doing or how to execute it. These people aren't competent to run a ladies sewing group, much less any level of government.

No MSM screams heard.

And you won't hear any---ever.

National Review, in its latest issue does a very good job detailing the response to Katrina in both equipment and manpower. It is estimated that over 50,000 were rescued starting Monday. Between the NO police and fire departments, the articles lists the military, including the Coast Guard had hundreds of helicopters over the city on Tuesday. In fact, there were so many that there were concerns of air traffic incidents.

Once again, the MSM created the story and refuses to report the truth.

Remember, nobody died in the SuperDome. Nobody died in the Convention Center. Less than 1000 died in the city even though all estimates say it should have been 10,000 or more.

New Orleans is an example of success in the aftermath.

In congressional testimony earlier this month, U.S. Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta blamed FEMA for holding up his department's efforts to move people out of New Orleans. He said buses that arrived in the first wave Wednesday sat there because FEMA didn't give orders to move.

Call me stupid but how would they have gotten all the buses into street flooded NO??

I was surprised that The Advocate had the infamous photo of the buses along with this article (it isn't online though). The caption reads: School buses flooded in a lot in New Orleans as a result of Hurricane Katrina. Buses-or the lack of them-has become a major issue.

I find the bus situation interesting. The local buses could not be used because of the driver excuse. State buses were not available because it would take too long to mobilize them. And yet FEMA is blamed by some for not supplying buses located the furthest distance away? Incredible.

" No MSM screams heard."

They do repeat the "people dying all around them" lie when in fact none of that happened in the superdome, but they won't reveal the incompetance of those democrats in charge, or the blatant lying that went on in the media.

Actually less than 1000 dead in all four states (LA, MS, AL and FL). About 700 were in LA.

They would not be able to get all the buses into flooded streets. That is why this deliberate obfuscation has been an attempt to confuse people. There are three stages.

Evacuation means to remove people prior to the time the threat makes it impossible and the streets are flooded.

After the streets are flooded you engage in search and rescue.

And, when that is completed, whether successfully or unsuccessfully, you proceed to a recovery of the bodies.

Right. And there were only six deaths in the Superdome. Four by natural causes, one by a drug overdose, and one suicide. There were no homicides. Not one.

As of June 9, 2005, there were no Orleans Parish school buses allocated for evacuations of the City Of New Orleans. No drivers, no gas money, no plan.

Don't blame it on FEMA.

The money is running out, fast; the school buildings are in terrible shape; it's hard to figure out who gets paid what, and for what duties; and 64,000 New Orleans children are looking at school starting in less than a month.
