Our Congresscritters live like royalty. Pork is how they make sure they stay on the throne. No surprises here.
I am SO...flipping sick of this kind of manure....year after year...after year.
Okay RANT OFF..!
That's, soon to be, President Coburn, isn't it?
Too bad we can't just organize a massive tax boycott - if there were a way to cut off funding to the government, even for a short time, maybe it would wake them up.
Unfortunately, the answer would be the government siezing our property. So we would have no impact.
Here are the "heros" who voted yes on the ammendment:

Our Republican "leaders" won't be satisfied until we are bankrupt. I'm cynical enough to believe that might be the point.
Coburn is the kind of Senator we need. What we also need is to rebuke Republicans and Democrats who voted against his measure. This shows yet again that neither party believes in fiscal responsibility. I'm still going to vote Republican but once the GOP get a fiblibuster proof majority in the Senate then it is going to be a put up or shut up time because I for one am not going to keep voting for more of the same. It will be up to Conservatives to clean up the Senate one Crazycrat and RINO at a time.
Third party anyone? One that actually practices what it preaches.
Keep talking Colburn.
Coburn should be commended and the GOPers who voted against his bill should see the back sides of the conservative base in the GOP.
I hope he has not burned any conservative bridges for a better bill.
That bill would not single out the Alaskan bridge to nowhere, but would have sought across the board cuts throughout the $25 billion in pork in the transportation bill.
I hope there can still be such a bill.
I like this Daily Oklahoman! Such a refreshing change from the Post-Disgrace.
We are shocked and extremely disappointed that you did not vote in favor of the Coburn amendment. It is NOT Senator Stevens who put you in office and by siding with his pork barrel politics, you have betrayed the people in Missouri who you represent.
And .. the people who protested Coburn the hardest and loudest are the very same people who are screaming about the deficit and how the repubs are "spending like drunken sailors".
What a joke!
The battle over internal improvements goes back to the time of the writing of the constitution. If the internal improvements made so far were to be dug up and returned to the natural state, the country would revert to wilderness.
Carolyn
Now Republicans are fighting other Republicans over whose pet projects should get the most funds. These people don't seem to care that they are spending money that doesn't belong to them. I expect the Democrats, not the Republicans, to have this lack of fiscal restraint.
Saw this editorial yesterday. Can I assume the Tulsa World did not have the same take on this?
Dr. Tom is coming to our fundraiser here in Cleveland County on the 18th of November as our keynote speaker to help out our County Party. Cannot wait to hear him speak!
What a freaking joke.
