WETZLAR, Germany More than 53 million Muslims live in Europe 14 million of them in the European Union, according to newly released figures.
The Central Institute's Islam Archives in Soest, Germany, says the number of Muslims in Europe has increased by 800,000 over the last two years, reports the German evangelical news agency IDEA.
The institutes director, Salim Abdullah, says that among the 25 EU states, France has the highest number of Muslims 5.5 million followed by Germany with 3.2 million, the United Kingdom with 1.5 million and Italy with 1 million.
Taking into account the whole continent, Russia has 25 million Muslims and the European part of Turkey 5.9 million. The Muslim population in Germany is mostly made up of Turkish migrants. But the number of Muslims holding a German passport has risen to almost 1 million.
Muslim worship in Germany is on the rise. Approximately 200,000 take part in daily prayers and 493,000 in Friday prayers at mosques and prayer houses an increase of more than 10 percent over last years figures.
Islam in Germany is a "young religion," according to the institute, which counts 850,000 Muslims as minors. One in five Muslim adolescents worships regularly.
The number of converts to Islam has reached a new high in Germany. According to the institute, more than 1,100 people changed their religion to Islam between 2004 and 2005. Approximately 60 percent of the converts were women. Most converted because they married a Muslim.
But the reverse also is true: More and more Muslims in Germany are becoming Christians. Most are Iranians in exile, who left their country after the Islamic revolution of 1979. Iranian converts estimate that each year approximately 60 Muslims are baptized in Germany.
The institute believes that more than 100,000 Iranian Shiites have converted to the Christian faith since the Islamic revolution. Most live in the United States.
I am happy to say that there are no known Muslims in Slovakia.
I have been asking around, and no one knows of any, unless maybe in some foreign consulate.
AMEN.
This story makes our problems with illegal Latino immigration look like a cake walk. No offense, but I'd much rather have a Hispanic for a neighbor than a maniac killer with a beard and head diaper. All the Hispanics I associate with daily are good, God loving folks. And in South Texas, we have a lot of Hispanics.
In light of that, it's also good news to finally see some positive movement in D.C. on our border issues.
I hope it's not too late.
Very exciting times. Feel free to freepmail me. God bless!
Simply require resident immigrants to attend the state church on Sunday or leave the country.
And the top concerns in countries like France are "American cultural hegemony."
Once these Euroidiots wake the heck up, it will be too late.
More often it's animal mating. The Muslims men hang out with the guys nearly all the time and in all permutations. They greatly prefer the company of men to that of their (perhaps multiple) wives
But catchy phrase by you!
You have an interesting tagline. The above is another on the same subject that is frequently quoted. I wonder which if the two said this first as they were roughly contemporaries.
Oh, I like that statement! That would explain why so many, many liberal men act like women! (Women acting like women is good, men doing that is, well, faintly repugnant... Not to mention unmanly.)
But, who do you trust more? Twain or Churchill?
I like Twain. He is an interesting fellow.
Churchill on the other hand is a demonstrated hero and saved the free world with his courage.
I like writers and humorists. But I trust Churchill.
This amounts to 4.3% of these countries' combined populations ... hardly an overwhelming number. They should shut down Muslim immigration now, while the problem is still easily manageable.
I like Churchill and Clemens. I use the Churchill quote because it is an appropriate follow on to his quote about Islam (rapid dogs, etc.).
But great minds and men think alike.
I wouldn't be surprised if Twain made a contemporaneous comment.
Saturday nights are more thin-skinned than others...or maybe that's the scotch.
Have a good weekend!
