22 October 2005 -- Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said today that he would never accept independence for the republic's UN-run Kosovo province.
Kostunica was speaking shortly before leaving Belgrade for New York, where he is expected to attend a key UN Security Council session on Kosovo on 24 October.
The Security Council is expected to announce the start of UN-mediated talks to determine the future status of Serbia's volatile province.
Kosovo, formally part of Serbia, has been an international protectorate for more than six years and its majority ethnic Albanian population overwhelmingly favors independence for the region.
But Kostunica said Serbia would never accept such "legal violence."
I doubt that the United States would accept an "independent California" just because it had been over-run by violent illegal immigrants but that's what some are trying to inflict on the Serbs.
And that is that.
Just say NO to Mexifornia and Kosova!
Well, since the Serbs and the Albanians cannot stand each other, separation is the only civilized option. The details like the borders, property compensation and the like ought to be settled by negotiations as best as one can. I would suggest putting Vaclav Havel in charge as a Commissioner.
It's not a pretty picture.
What we need to do is merge Mexifornia and Kosova, and then flood Kosova with Mexicans, and everyone will be happy. Kosova will be Christian again! What is there not to like?
I have a problem with the idea that any ethnic group can flood a neighboring country and abuse the right of self determination to tear away that region from its rightful owners. I hope they do not get independence, otherwise the Basques, the Hungarians in Romania, the Serbs in Bosnia and Croatia, the Swedes in Finland, and about 20 other groups in Europe should also get independent countries. Some form of autonomy is what Kosovo should get.
= )
Peace will only return to Kosovo alongside the Serbian Army.
LOL!
If only Mexicans were Muslim then our resident Islamofascist cheerleaders could pull on their kneepads and give a little lip service to that idea.
Yes, those damn nationalist, flag-waving patriots are a huge nuisance to world progress. I'm certainly glad that George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and all the other Founders weren't nationalists and flag-waving patriots, otherwise America wouldn't be part of the United Kingdom. Can you imagine that?
Sure, give radical Islamic drug-runners and terrorists whatever land they have taken from Christians in the past and make it 'autonomous'. That way, we'll ensure peace in the region, and as the Albanians grow stronger over time they'll change their spots and never again bother the Serbs or encroach further into their land. It's a stroke of genius I tell ya.
You've got that backward, F-Lib. Peace in Kosovo or Slovenia or Bosnia or Croatia has come only when the Serb forces departed. The first President Bush understood this very well and that is why he issued his Christmas warning in which on December 24 1992, the US Ambassador to Belgrade read the following message to Milosevic: In the event of conflict in Kosovo caused by Serbian action, the US will be prepared to employ military force against Serbians in Kosovo and Serbia proper
You mean peace like this: The report at this link documented 36 incidents of rape committed by Serbian police and Yugoslav Army soldiers against Kosovar women in 1998-March 1999 before the bombing began and another 96 more cases during the bombing campaign, almost all of which were gang rapes, involving more than one perpetrator. Further, because of the cultural stigma attached to rape victims and the impossibility of interviewing every single refugee as well as those victims who were consequently murdered, the report states that the actual number of women raped in Kosovo between March and June 1999 was much higher.
Below is shown a graphic of where the rapes occurred
Or do you mean peace like this? The Independent International Commission on Kosovo report (Section 3) summarized that:
During the course of the NATO air campaign, approximately 863,000 civilians sought or were forced into refuge outside of Kosovo. An estimated additional 590,000 were internally displaced. Together, these figures indicate that over 90% of the Kosovar Albanian population were displaced from their homes.
So you would describe the ethnic cleansing of the Serbs, Roma, and Jews from Kosovo as peace, eh mark? I guess that means the desruction of all of those ancient churches and monasteries was some sort of urban renewal from your viewpoint.
Yes, we realize that the anti-Serb bigots and the Islamofascists both relish Kosovo's current status, but we also realize they are fooling themselves if they believe this will stand.
That will only fool the Clintonistas and their ilk among the Islamofascist sect of FR. As was posting in this piece about the last "mass rape" fiction used against the Serbs:
Rapes The idea of "rape camps" was positively outstanding. The media hysteria was general (titles : "Rape by order", "Rape horror", "Rape camps", "A pattern of rape"...), and people started to believe in the existence of a "systematic rape plan". In reality, rapes happened not more than in any war, and have been performed by all sides. In 1992, the Bosnian government claimed that 50,000 muslim women have been raped, information abundantly relayed by the media. After investigation, Amnesty International published in January 21, 1993, a report where the issue of rape was qualified as a "propaganda weapon". Later on, the UN Commission of Experts on War Crimes identified only 800 victims - Muslim, Serb and Croat -. The hyperbolic inflation of numbers is well illustrated by the following testimony: "When I was at 50 kilometers from Tuzla, I was told 'go to Tuzla high school ground, as there are 4,000 raped women'. At 20 kilometers, this figure dropped to 400. At 10 kilometers, only 40 were left. Once at the site, I found only 4 women willing to testify." (French television reporter Jerome Bony, Envoye Special, quoted in French magazine Le Point).Maybe you guys should have Soros write you some new talking points, huh? Your reliance upon that old lies has become laughable!
More Serb Army peacemaking:
Over 100,000 houses belonging to Kosovar Albanians were destroyed or damaged. Page 8 of this USAID report details:
98,064 homes as having Category 3 (repairable, sustained up to 30% damage to the roof, partial fire damage, and partially destroyed doors/windows), Category 4 (repairable, but sustained over 30% damage to the roof, severe damage to the structure and floor, and completely destroyed doors/windows), and Category 5 (destroyed and are not repairable) damage.
The sytematic destruction of civilian homes in Kosovo by Serb security forces accelerated in Kosovo during 1998 and early 1999, notably in the Drenica region and Orahovac municipality (particularly in the town of Malisevo) and Decani municipality.75 A UNHCR shelter survey released in November 1998 demonstrates the widespread nature of the destruction during 1998.76 The survey assessed 285 villages, of which 210 had been affected by the conflict. In the 210 affected villages with an estimated pre-conflict population of 350,000 persons, 28 percent of the homes-9,809 out of a total of 35,185 homes-had been completely destroyed. Another 15 percent of the homes (5,112 homes) had severe damage, while an additional 6,017 homes sustained moderate to minor damage, leaving only 40 percent of the homes in the affected regions undamaged.
