I think the Miers nomination simply was... Call it a tipping point or last straw, whatever. But this DeLay situation, I have believed throughout all this that while the press, particularly the Beltway press, wants to report about conservatives falling apart, Republicans falling apart, the White House losing control. My impression has been that there is anger among the conservative base. There's anger at the way this president has been insulted and criticized, impugned and abused by what has been a lynch mob coordinated by Democratic Party, the ultra left-wing extremist base and certain members of the press corps, and I think people have been fed up with this for five years. Now, rather than being demoralized by it... Some have been demoralized. I mean, it doesn't make you feel good. But I've been trying to tell you, each time they overstep they open the door right into their own nose. I don't know what's going to happen with this Rove business, but there could be some overarching or overreaching there. We won't know for awhile, but there clearly is with this DeLay business, and I have no doubt that it's going to unify conservatives, and further focus their anger toward the ballot box next year.

Rush's closing comments here were absolutely brilliant!

I was scanning through the radio and caught some NPR commentary on this. The announcer subtly implied Delay was dishonest and probably guilty. He was using such a snide tone of voice I got disgusted and had to turn it off.

The whole Delay fiasco (and that is what it will be, barring a miracle, mendacity or manufactured evidence) shows the typical Dem's overreaching. They attempt to gain victory over their bête noir in one dramatic act and they never anticipate its backfire, so suffused with sanctimony and self regard are they.

Grin
Robert Service
If you're up against a bruiser and you're getting knocked about --

Grin.

If you're feeling pretty groggy, and you're licked beyond a doubt --

Grin.

Don't let him see you're funking, let him know with every clout,
Though your face is battered to a pulp, your blooming heart is stout;
Just stand upon your pins until the beggar knocks you out --

And grin.

This life's a bally battle, and the same advice holds true

Of grin.

If you're up against it badly, then it's only one on you,

So grin.

If the future's black as thunder, don't let people see you're blue;
Just cultivate a cast-iron smile of joy the whole day through;
If they call you "Little Sunshine", wish that THEY'D no troubles, too --

You may -- grin.

Rise up in the morning with the will that, smooth or rough,

You'll grin.

Sink to sleep at midnight, and although you're feeling tough,

Yet grin.

There's nothing gained by whining, and you're not that kind of stuff;
You're a fighter from away back, and you WON'T take a rebuff;
Your trouble is that you don't know when you have had enough --

Don't give in.

If Fate should down you, just get up and take another cuff;
You may bank on it that there is no philosophy like bluff,

And grin.

Its too good a picture. The libs were hoping to see a surly, angry side of DeLay. What's this? It doesn't help their fund-raising efforts any. And in enlisting the courts and prosecution in the war against conservatives and the Republican Party, all they've ensured is they can't acquire the means to prevail at the ballot box. They may be able to get DeLay or even Scooter or Rove but in the end the conservative movement is bigger than any individual. The Left can try to criminalize conservatism but they can never win over the country to their side of thinking.

The democrats need to manufacture legal and moral and ethical issues against the republicans because they know that if the republicans continue being the family friendly and ethical and moral leaders when it comes to election times, the democrats don't stand a chance.

As long as the republicans continued being viewed as the family issues party and the party of moral values and clean ethics, the democrats could count on deteriorating election outcomes.

The democrats have no choice but to 'dirty up' the republicans and to knock them down to their level where they think they may stand a chance with the voters.

But, as witnessed by the good people in this forum and in others, the democrats plans are backfiring and they will pay a higher price in the next few elections.

We republicans know about the democrats' dirty tricks and and it ain't going to work for them.

Perhaps as the Demo's hand out pic's of Delay as a charged individual...pictures could also be handed out with Bill Clinton and the caption "...but rapists walk free". It has a bigger impact than money laundering, and you really start to question this whole episode.

You're quite right.

If Bill Clinton didn't have the political connections, including himself, to get him out of criminal charges, he would today be serving at least life in prison for his crimes. In fact, for some of his crims, he could've gotten the death penalty.

"...but rapists walk free"

I've been told more than once by left-wing friends and acquaintances that the "Sore Loserman" slogan was the key reason that Republicans won the debate over who had won the 2000 election.

This stuff matters.

We're going to need short, concise, simple but compelling slogans and "sound bite" statements to deal with both the DeLay and the Leakgate matters. The key is framing public perceptions and attitudes. It's all about marketing your memes.

and the throngs of reporters are on their way to Little Rock as we speak, to cover what is sure to be the story of the year and the next cover of Time Magazine. Kathleen Willey and Juanita Broderick touring the Clinton Lie-brary and Massage Parlor.

nah, it'll be Joe Wilson

I have always thought Bush has been beat up so badly because of what the Clintons and their minons believe was heaped upon them. Folks, there is a difference. Bush is not like the Clintons. The Clintons brought these things upon themselves and to continually blame others instead of taking responsibility is stupid. I believe most people have seen through this and I also believe the Clintons and their like never will because being good people that are honest and responsible are so far removed from them. They are wheeler dealers and will never be anything else. Honesty will always ellude them. They will never understand because they are incapable. It's an uphill battle for the Clintons. The line of least resistance is the name of their game.

Now, I figure we can continue to watch them play their games, or we can continue to get them out of our lives. They will fall eventually.

BTW, please read the book, the marketing of evil, if you haven't already. It is one of the best books I have read regarding the mess we are in and why.

And one more thing, I believe the Clintons believe in their stratagy and believe it works for them. It doesn't and will evenuatually turn the tables on them because of the deceit involved. They don't and will never understand lying is not the answer.

I LOVED Tom DeLay's mug shot! It looked more like a yearbook photo...plus no height chart behind him and didn't have him holding a sign. What a hoot! The DUmmies are upset that the picture looks so good, so they're photoshopping their own mug shots of DeLay!
